Conversations with Lucy

Lucy-" Mom, Do you know what you can't do?" Mom-"No, what?" Lucy-" You can't put root beer in the microwave. You can't put it in the microwave or else it will explode." Mom- " Is that right?" Lucy- " Yeah, and do you know what else you can't do, you can't put candy in the microwave or else it will explode too. Yeah!"

Survived and out of the dog house

Well just to let everyone know everyone survived the weekend! It wasn't even that bad. I found out that my niece and a nephew stay up WAY later than I would like them too. Young girls left alone will be girls and baths and hair cuts for the barbie and brat dolls make a big wet mess and leave a pile of hair. I am thankful it was the dolls though and they were happy with the results. A direct quote from Mikayla was," We gave the dolls haircuts and we gave some of them bangs, and made it so they have short hair and it looks so so good!" She was happy with them so I was fine with it too. On a completely different note, winter is trying to barge in to the wonderful fall we are having in our neck of the woods. Because of this we have decided to let one of the dogs come in and be a house dog again. We would have both of them but they decided to be arch enemies, trying to kill each other every time they are together, so we are playing favorites and letting Kuka be inside. She...

Defense

I am helping to take care of my niece and nephews while Glen's sister and husband are out of town. Let me just say that no one has died yet and I haven't chewed anyone's head off! ( Wahoo!) I am use to two on one when it is just the girls and me. It is really nice when Glen gets home or is around and it's man to man! This six on one is for the birds. It is like who is causing the greatest threat to them self or someone else. That is where the attention goes. It is patience testing and frazzling yet, rather amuzing because kids are just so funny! It's going to be an interesting couple of days!

Off my list!

As I have mentioned before my littlest sister got married a few months ago. For a wedding present I told her I would make her a quilt. She has chosen a pattern and colors for it so I really need to get going on it, but I told her I had to finish at least one of my other quilt projects before I really got started on it. So I have been inspired to do some sewing! I got the fabric for this quilt about three years ago when I was taking a block of the month class with my mom from a fabric store . It has been been cut out, just waiting to be sewn together for all this time. I don't know why it took me so long to put them together, but I am done now! The funny thing is I rearranged the blocks, I bet a hundred times to see how different ones looked by each other and to separate similar colors. I worked so hard to get them in this order and now it is all done if I where to resew it I would do it differently. Oh well, live and learn right! At least I have one thing off of my to do list!

Gone and done it

I went from this to this! (Not the best pictures I know) Not sure if I completely like it, but it is done and my hair is not constantly in a pony tail!

Halloween

This holiday proved to be educational from my stand point! I was able to see which parent each child is really like. Take for instance our black and white spotted bunny, Lilly, she wanted to trick or treat till her bucket was full (we didn't quite make it, thank goodness!). As soon as we got home she dumped her candy on the floor separated it it to the various kinds and counted it, even though it all ends up in the candy bucket. Our pink kitty, Lucy, on the other hand was not as goal oriented with a candy amount, and a little shy to say "Trick or treat!" And when she got home she dumped her candy out, like her sister, but she then shared a piece with everyone and then quickly put the rest in the candy bucket. So who do you think is like who? I think I'll see what you guys think and then I'll add what I concluded! As for Glen and I we did actually dress up! We just didn't get a picture of it. We went to the Smith's (my sister's in-law's) Halloween ...

Adding to the Family

Now with a title like that you may be thinking that this is an announcement from Glen and I that our family is growing from four to five. You would be wrong. What I am writing about is the addition to our extended family that has taken place. My newly married sister and brother-in-law have added to the family! Notorious Nitra She is a great dane puppy! She won't be on Ali's lap for much longer! Congrats to Ali and Derek for their new arrival!

Grandma Richins birthday hat- this photo is required of everyone once a year! What kind of cake did this 3 year old want? Purple cake with pink and yellow frosting and she got it! Rewards from the day!

Oreo Bites

This is the ending process of making oreo bites. I made these for Glen for his birthday and then I made them again as a reward for one of his classes the other day. (except I really didn't because that would be against the rules. wink wink) This time I took pictures. they are so yummy! I had such self control I didn't even eat one! Wahoo! I think I can put on pounds just looking at them!
