Where he normally is...

Daryl is not where I usually want him or in a place he should be. This little boy of mine is so fun but these are very common places I find him or have to move him off of for his own safety. Of course as you can tell after I take a picture of it, because sometimes I still can't believe he can get where he does! Tables and especially my island counter are his favorite places to be and you can bet that if there is a knife or some other dangerous object on that surface he will have it in hand. Some places aren't so bad like the rocking horse, if only he would SIT on it instead of stand.  Oh,this little boy!   This video is Glen's favorite. Hope it gives you a smile for the day!

Blessings in Disguise

(By the way I may be struck by lightening for this post.) Do your blessings ever come looking like this? All disguised? They come waltzing in to your life and you think for a minute, you might recognize them but then they don't turn out like you really want and they make you uncomfortable and maybe push you out of your comfort zone. You really decide that you don't really like this waltzing thing but there is no way to get it out of your life since it's come in. A little time goes by though and then you realize that you were right on your first impression and that this really is a blessing because now it's finally taken off it's disguise, and you are thinking well that wasn't what I expected but it wasn't too bad and I learned a lot and grew a some, so this was a good blessing in disguise. I have had a few of those. The whole basement project has turned out to be one after another after another of them. This last one has sort of put me over the edge, b...

What I should be doing

I am sitting at the computer typing this though there are a few dozen (okay maybe only three or four) things I should be doing. I should be doing dishes because no one else will. Though I love Aunt Patty's philosophy of always go to bed with a clean kitchen, I have a hard time practicing it. I am sure it would be easier if I was her child. I should be quilting. I am in the single digits on how many rows I have left till this quilt is off the frames and I can bind it and have my front room back. I should have done it today but I was busy taking out my frustrations. I should be showering. It's late and I spent half the day breaking up concrete in my basement. It was good therapy to help me come to terms with the situation. In stead of crying like I wanted too I went to work and got good and sweaty and out of breath and vibrated almost to death by the jack hammer. I should be sleeping. My kids are. My husband probably is, though he's more than likely at the end of the ...

You can't glue it back on

The girls got hair cuts a couple of days ago. The last few times I have taken them to get a trim it ends up being more than that. They keep going shorter and shorter with their hair. Part of that is the stylists fault though because they have been very hesitant to give them pixie cuts like they have ask for. It has taken till now, and me telling them," It is okay to do it; they must really want it that short because they have ask for that cut the last few times."  It definitely is short but their Grandma Richins and Aunt Janae have short cuts too, so I guess they are following suit.

Oh, wait

It might also be good to make sure we are following that other rule. The close all bathroom doors and any bedroom doors that lead to bathrooms unless you want your toilet paper roll UNrolled, toliet cleaned and toilet water all over your bathroom floor, garbage inspected and redistributed who knows where rule.  Your shower might have something done to it too. It is a good rule to follow too! At least at our house.

Sometimes...

We forget our own rules. 1- Don't leave chairs in front of the desk. 2- Close the office door. (If I do #2 I don't have to worry about #1, but sometimes it's good to just prevent the possibility on as many levels as you can.)
