Yeah, We Did That

You have probably all seen the ALS ice bucket challenge that has been rampant on social media or even media in general the last couple weeks. My mom/s kind friend nominated the whole Lynn and Lisa Egbert Family to do it last week. You are suppose to do it in 24 hours but that didn't happen. As many of us that would and could got together to night to meet the challenge. These videos are what resulted.  We actually missed one of the best parts. Just before Glen began filming my dad was sitting on the ground ready for it all to begin. Daryl, not really knowing what is going on but seizing the opportunity, came up behind Dad with this tiny bucket full of the ice water and dumped it right on top of his head. It was hilarious.   As a side note our first thought was to fill the bucket of my dad's tractor with ice. Dump all that ice in to the neighbor's above ground pool, that we are about to take down for the winter, and then have all of us jump in to the pool. Maybe n...

Just go outside and play

Here are a few take always from tonight. They did what I asked! I just couldn't even imagine that their playing would be what it was. Next time I will give some guide lines.  Little boys continually amaze me with their energy, determination, and curiosity. They also exasperate and tire me. Luckily my friend is still my friend after finding her boys in the state they were in when she returned to get them.  Her boys don't love water as much as my kids so they were not happy with me when I showered them off and insisted on spraying the packed in mud out of their hair. Daryl tried to help make up for it by being willing to clean off the van. It was just another attempt to play with water but I let him do it for awhile. All in all we had some good laughs, they made some good memories and were obedient to my request to play outside. I guess I can't ask for more.

A Walk in the Clouds

Glen and I invited a bunch of family and friends a few months ago to hike to the summit of Mount Timpanogas with us on August 18, grown ups only . It was going to be our last bit of fun before he started back to meetings and school. We knew it might be hard for some people being on a Monday but really didn't  want to deal with the crowds on the trail that the weekend brings. As it worked out no one could make it work, and the new teachers at school needed Glen's help on Monday if he could make it work. We were really bummed that no one could join us but didn't want to give up on our plan. So with our babysitter being willing to switch days(Thank you Grandma Richins, you earned an A++), we decided to go, just the two of us on Tuesday(8/19/2014). We got up at 4:45 am and got ready, though it took longer than we thought. We checked the weather. It said 30% chance of rain, so we put ponchos in our packs and I put in a light layering jacket. We ended up getting to the...

Report on today

I keep falling behind at this recording our doings and happenings thing but it is something I know is important and I want to become better at so I will continue  persisting. I will have to go back and cover other things but here is today.  Glen and I teach Sunday school. This month's topic is marriage and family. We have talked about journaling, the importance of marriage and family and family history. I challenged the kids to write in their journal at least three times in the week two weeks ago. I failed but hope to make up for it. This week I challenged them to find something new about their family history. It could be a name or a story from a parent or  grandparent or someone farther back. I have some research to do, so I can do this. It will be interesting to see how the kids do with it.   A more noteable event from today was the get together at Joel and Lesley's house. It was in part to celebrate M'Li's birthday and to just get together. Glen's whole side of t...
