Fall break 2021

Fall break came at just the right time. We didn’t go anywhere and didn’t seem to do very much out of the ordinary. We did celebrate Beth and Lucy’s birthdays . That was a good positive. Lucy was super nice and didn’t mind us doing the activity Beth wanted to to on her birthday on Lucy’s actual birthday. Lucy turned 15. We had a lot of fun at the aquarium. Grandma and grandpa Richins also took us out to lunch at PF Chang’s, which was excellent.  Glen worked a couple days. One of the days was to attend the state 6A women’s soccer championship game where Riverton won the title! Everyone but Glen plus Clara and Anna went to Provo on Friday night to watch BYU women’s volleyball. That was the activity Lucy wanted to do for her birthday! The cougars handily beat San Diego. It was fun. The younger kids were very happy it was over in three sets.  I have random low quality pictures from the week.

Don’t go wasting your emotions…

Lay all your love on me. Since Lilly is in Mama Mia, there are a lot of ABBA songs being sung or played around our house. Beth sings bits of this one the most.  This week felt like it kicked my butt. I don’t know why it seemed so hard. I think I was wasting my emotions on things I didn’t really need to put so much emotional energy in too. The weather was beautiful or rainy and even tried to snow in the valleys a little. Luckily it didn’t try too hard and stayed in the mountains.  I am not ready for snow yet. I got to be entertained by these high school boys while waiting to pick Lucy up from practice one day. Who wouldn’t want to have a bubble bath with friends in the back of their truck during a rain storm, right?  I quilted a table runner for a client. I learned a different thread choice would have been better for the quilting to be visible. And the quilt below I did for my mom to gift to a friend. There was another one just like it I did but with the sister’s name on i...

Livin’ on a prayer

Oh, we've got to hold on, ready or not You live for the fight when it's all that you've got Woah, we're half way there Woah, livin' on a prayer Take my hand, we'll make it I swear Woah, livin' on a prayer Woah, we're half way there Woah, livin' on a prayer Take my hand, we'll make it I swear Woah, livin' on a prayer Here is what we are holding on too this week- Getting the rear window repaired before bad weather hit after not paying attention and popping it in to thousands of pieces while backing in to a parking spot at the orthodontist office. No one getting hurt in the process of the glass popping and the orthodontist being really nice about the whole thing.  Getting help at just the right times from Marian and my mom, while putting to go dinners together for the RHS volleyball team and getting the food to the school close to when it was suppose to be there.  Going to the temple early one morning but missing my morning walk with Glen. Goo...

Leaves are falling all around

Let’s see if I can get this out before next week?  I’ll start with the not so good from the week-  Lucy started not feeling well on Sunday and got worse over the next three days. She ended up missing school three days and practice two.  Evelyn is declining visibly these days; she tries to be as pleasant as she can but old age is not so easy.  Mice in the feed bin for the goats.  On the brighter side, these things happened this week-  Larry turned 82. We celebrated by going out to dinner as a family.Everyone except Lilly and Mikayla were there. (I am sorry no picture. For you to see Janae and her boys.) All the flooring is installed at Larry and Janene’s!!! Lilly went to Cedar City for The Shakespeare Festival High school theater competition.  She had a fun time and their tech olympics team took 3rd place.  A week where Lucy  had one game giving her time to rest and work on getting well. Beautiful weather, stunning sunrises, and a cool wildlif...

He knows the way

Just a few things from this past week.  Lilly sang one of her solos in her MDT class this week. The piano is really loud but I thought she did a super job, and since we just passed the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the song seems fitting. I embedded the video but incase that doesn’t work there is a link as well.   Lucy with her carpool teammates. They were 1-1 in their games.  The younger kids had their school fun run. Ruth ran 25 laps in 20 minutes. The laps were 1/10 of a mile so that was 2.5 miles. That was second fastest in 3rd grade so she got an extra shirt. Daryl ran 18 laps and was happy with that. He die love running.  Beth was the sparkliest runner on the course and ran 19 laps.  On the way home Beth couldn’t resist hanging upside down from the neighbor’s gate rails. Just after this picture we met our neighbor who was having a bad day. Her younger dogs had attacked her old dog, Annie. Annie was in bad shape and we helped her get Annie in her car so they c...
