Things as they are

This week was an interesting week.  Here are some of the things that happened.  My mom and two of her sisters and some friends went to Bryce Canyon for a quilting retreat.  We had enough help from family to be able to take care of Evelyn while they were gone.  Uncle Hal Porter passed away.  Larry and Janene made plans to go to Arizona for the services at the end of the week. He was the end of Porter biological male line. Joe being able to stay one night a week with Evelyn because he has a cast on a finger and can’t work regular shift work. It’s happened the last few weeks and has been such a help.  Jason graduated from his battle with ALS. That's a horrible disease.   Visiting and  hugging Emily the evening Jason passed. Observing how well Jason and Emily have been supported and loved by family, friends and ward members during this time.  Visiting Uncle Bob and seeing that the efforts Aunt Steph has gone to to help him regulate his diabetes a...

Hearts that know and feel

February 13-19 Here are some of the events of the week and what I am grateful for from those events.  My Dad’s heart went in to a-fib.  I am thankful he was able to get cardio verted, and the medical help he needed to help him feel better.  The kids made their own Valentine’s Day cards.  How I am grateful- they did them with little help from me. They involved- goldfish crackers and a fake rose, a small bottle of bubbles, a small runner duck and a small colored pencil pack.  Evelyn had some good days. They are getting farther apart and fewer.  Glen got to go to San Francisco for a conference for work. It was a good conference and nice rest for him.  The kids and I went to see Bluey’s Big Play.  It was fun and short. A good night to spend with the kids.  Quilting a wall hanging that I have been working on for awhile.

Once there was a snow pile tall, tall, tall

February 20-26  The main event of the week was  the snow storm that came in Tuesday night and stayed till Wednesday evening leaving us with at least a foot of snow.  It changed all the plans we had which was kind of good and kind of not so great.  Since we live in post Covid shut down, we didn’t get snow days but virtual learning days on Wednesday and Thursday because of the amount of snow that came. Then the elementary kids had Friday off because it was parent teacher conferences, which were moved to zoom.  We shoveled a lot of snow at our house neighbor houses and and grandparent’s houses. Ellie found her brave and slept over at our house. We remembered just how much we like in person learning instead of virtual learning. We are grateful we don’t have to make up school days though.  I found out how flexible Costa Vida is with catering. I had food ordered to feed teachers on Wednesday night but then had to change the order two times when school was made vi...
