socks and smiles

Dear Heather, Thanks for sending my sister, Ruth, these fun socks. I really like them and tried them out for her!  What do you think?   Love,  Daryl    We get smiles! You wouldn't believe what we do to get them, but I bet it would make you smile too!

Sophisticated 6 weeks

At 6 weeks Ruth became very sophisticated, smart, or scholarly. Or maybe all three! Maybe just too cute to pass up a fun picture of.  She is so fun to have around, I think we take advantage of it a bit much sometimes.

if you have a beard

I made cookies during conference weekend and the girls ask Glen if they could have some. He told them that the cookies where only for people who had beards.  This is what they did to fix their lack of facial hair problem. I think they ended up getting some cookies!

Dry gills

At the being of this month we had a nice day and my kids took advantage of it. It was warm enough that they thought it was summer, though if you look at the thermometer above you will see it was not. It was somewhere in the fifties, not what I would really consider hot. After being cooped up inside all winter long my part fish children needed W -A- T -E -R. It was also an excuse to avoid the chores they needed to do. I had forgotten how much they love water and how silly and creative they are, when left on unattended for a little bit. What fun they are. Yes, they are drinking the water out of the wheelbarrow. No, I do not recommend this and did advise them against it. They are working on really good immune systems, I guess? At least that is what I had to tell myself.  Don't worry I got them in swimming lessons to help fill their fishy needs in a better way!

Ruth's story

Here is the story.  At my first weekly check up in the end of February, we found out the baby was breech. On Friday of that week when I was 37 weeks and 6 days I elected to have a version done to see if the baby could be turned from the outside. It didn't work, though my doctor and the nurse helping him tried really hard and gave me bruises to prove it. I decided I better start warming up to the idea of  a c-section. It wasn't what I wanted but maybe there was a reason and lots of ladies have them so I could too.    The next week at my appointment my doctor checked the baby and it was still breech but I was dialated to a 4+. It was a later appointment and Glen was able to go to it with me. We talked to the doctor about our options but they were really limited-c- section- unless I went in to labor on my own and the baby was ready to be delivered when we got to the hospital and even then it could possibly be an emergency c-section. The doctor said we could sche...

Pictures

I almost have Ruth's birth story typed up. It's not done yet and I want to do it justice because it was a HUGE blessing and answer to many, many prayers. Until I get it done her are some pictures of us, but probably mostly Ruth. Ruth on her due date 3/16/13. The girls wondered if that bow would ever come out of her hair. Glen told them  he was sure by time she went to college it would be out! These three pictures were our egg hunting on Easter. I did all the hiding and had to come back out to make sure they got them all. It was a really good day. Ruth putting "the sleeper hold" on Glen.   Tummy time. My red heads. At least for now, I don't know if Ruth's will stay red.  Ruth is doing great. She lost at least 10% of her body weight while we were at the hospital. So we had to get her checked out on the Friday after she was born. She was 8 lbs 6 oz., 21 1/4 inches then. By her two week appointment she had gained that pound plus some...
