Christmas 2021

Merry Christmas!  More to come but to all a good night for now.

Simple gifts

This week seemed like a small gift of calmness before the craziness of December storms in.   We got to see Lilly play Rosie one more time in Mama Mia on Monday night. And Camron. I forgot to mention him before. He plays Bill, Lilly’s opposite and the guy she has the face seizure with. Beth has THE BIGGEST crush on him. She has claimed him as her boyfriend for a couple years now. We are still singing the songs and have them pretty imbedded in our heads right now.  It was my birthday Tuesday. Which was a mostly ordinary day; school and work for everyone but it ended with Larry and Janene watching the younger kids so Glen and I could go “out on the town.” That looked like us eating at Saffron Circle, a yummy Indian restaurant we hadn’t been to before and going to Costco to get Thanksgiving dinner needs before the crazy day before shoppers hit.  Wednesday everyone had off school and work. We cleaned the house. Lucy and some cousins slept over and helped Grandma Egbert m...

Take a chance on me

Weeks seem to be coming fast and furious right now. This week didn’t start out great but fortunately got better.  Monday I found out a family friend passed away on Sunday evening. Janene and I had planned to visit her Monday. It was a hard learning experience. My aunt had called me Saturday to tell me that her husband posted on her Facebook page that she only had days left to live. I had the distinct thought that I should do whatever I could to go visit her that day.  It had been a bad night with Evelyn and there was a lot going on so I pushed the thought away. It was not the right decision to make. :( I also got to deal with poor communication on my part and personality conflicts with people and planning a Relief Society activity that is different than what has been done in the past for Christmas.  I feel like I am on a giant learning curve and that looks like a half pike on a ninja warrior course. I am struggling to get up the steep pitch and get a grip on the landing, ...

The next right thing

My pictures are minimal this week and my view of the world mostly came from inside the walls of the elementary school. Week of November 8th- It was parent teacher conferences and book fair this week. I am on the committee to feed the teachers a dinner one night for PTC and over book fair. It was a lot of time at the school.  I also got to make a bunch of decisions that I really didn’t want to make and just meant I couldn’t do everything I wanted to do.  Everyone else did more interesting things than me.  In April of 2020 we were suppose to see Frozen the Broadway Musical, but everything closed down. Things have opened back up and the show started touring again. Glen and the kids got to see it this week. They said it was really good. Here are other random pictures from the week.  I was outside long enough to see this rainbow. The horses got out at my parents and I happen to see part f this one as the cameras were bringing up the current view. Beth needed me to take th...

Oh refresh us, Oh refresh us traveling through this wilderness

Here are pictures of parts of our week. It’s all I’ve got time for now.  Lucy captured Evelyn clapping for Marian playing the piano. Both Marian and I have started trying to play again because she likes it so much.  This quilt was a challenge. It was not flat or square. Quiltie people would say it had “fullness” in it. I searched the internet for suggestions on what to do to help it. After a lot of ironing, misting with water, ironing, starching and ironing some more I felt like a magician and that I made it look good.  Janene came to watch the varsity volleyball team in their state tournament play in game. After moving around a lot we settled in next to the student sections of both teams. It was really fun and she is really fun! Lilly and Lucy missed a surprise birthday party for one of their young women leaders because of school activities. I was pleasantly surprised that Lilly had gone and got her treats she would like and then later took them to her.  A random Su...

This is Halloween, everybody make a scene

Here are some scenes from our life this week.  Ruth and Beth being too “sick” to go back to school Monday.   Lucy’s last game on the sophomore volleyball team as a freshman, an exit interview with coaches and turning in her gear. She had a lot of fun and learned a lot including being able to jump serve.  Lilly saved Glen and I by taking the younger kids to the ward trunk or treat while we were helping and working at the JV and varsity volleyball games. I texted a friend from high school to wish her happy birthday and we scheduled a time to have dinner together and catch up.  I am in an emotional resilience class our ward is facilitating. It has been so good. There are such good things in that manual that we are going over.  A really kind and good Bishop that got the brunt of Lilly processing news about auditions for colleges that didn’t go as well as she hoped, when she went to see him for her ecclesiastical endorsement for her BYU application.  We, wait th...

Fall break 2021

Fall break came at just the right time. We didn’t go anywhere and didn’t seem to do very much out of the ordinary. We did celebrate Beth and Lucy’s birthdays . That was a good positive. Lucy was super nice and didn’t mind us doing the activity Beth wanted to to on her birthday on Lucy’s actual birthday. Lucy turned 15. We had a lot of fun at the aquarium. Grandma and grandpa Richins also took us out to lunch at PF Chang’s, which was excellent.  Glen worked a couple days. One of the days was to attend the state 6A women’s soccer championship game where Riverton won the title! Everyone but Glen plus Clara and Anna went to Provo on Friday night to watch BYU women’s volleyball. That was the activity Lucy wanted to do for her birthday! The cougars handily beat San Diego. It was fun. The younger kids were very happy it was over in three sets.  I have random low quality pictures from the week.
