Runnin’ just as fast as we can

Life has been moving at quite a clip the past few weeks. I think it is finally catching up to us. Everyone is tired. Here are some good things from this week. There are nine days of school left. Then summer. We are so close to being done with this unique and challenging school year. Celebrating Lilly’s birthday!  Book fair...mostly that it is over. It was good to have it with the students and cute to see them bring in their change and crumpled dollar bills wanting books. and start getting back to normal things.  Aunt Melodee visiting and staying with Evelyn giving everyone that stays at night with her a break.  A Sunday drive with Daryl and Glen to Sanpete county, and seeing the house my aunt and uncle are building.  Lucy making an excellent cake for Lilly for her birthday.  Finishing Aunt Maridean’s quilt finally and getting a client quilt done in time for it to be given for graduation.  Lilly got her second Covid shot.  Rugby games started for ...

Sparky, Sparky, our little larky

Lilly is seventeen today. It’s been such a fun ride being her mom. We celebrated yesterday by going out to dinner and buying treats. Today was rather low key with all our regular Tuesday stuff. She’s in a spot where she has definite opinions about what she wants, if only she can make a choice.  She’s about finished with her junior year of high school. She has worked hard all year in school at a challenging schedule and has passed everything so far.  She loves all things theater- acting dancing singing, doing them all at once, set design, staging, lights, props. She also loves going to live theater.  She has had some great opportunities this year to work with Broadway performers and artists. She loves dinosaurs, frogs, old lady strawberry candy and making new kind of complicated recipes.  She has a big heart and wants justice and fairness for all.  She is a deep thinker.  She loves to play and have fun and can often be found running around with or play...

It may surprise you what the Lord has done

There are several things from this week and a couple from last week that didn’t get mentioned that are just really great blessings. We took Evelyn to the dermatologist last week. It was quite the ordeal. She doesn’t really go anywhere anymore but she went, rather felt like she was kidnapped and forced to go. The silver lining was some tender moments with Evelyn and Marian, the nurse or medical assistant being a lady that use to live in Herriman and knew Evelyn, and a caring doctor willing to listen to us and our needs while meeting our strict criteria.  Evelyn has needed a a haircut for months. We have been trying to get the lady that comes to her house lined up to come with no success. She was able to get us the perm though. Marian’s friend was willing to come do the perm on Monday. Evelyn wasn’t sure if she knew what she was doing but she was so happy with the end result.  Aunt Melodee is here visiting and helping with Evelyn. It is good to have her around and have her...

April showers bring May flowers

Let’s see what has happened this week? I am sure a whole bunch. Life is moving at a good clip and I’m trying to hold on for the ride.  It rained. That was great! We need all the water we can get.  I got a call from the principal of Hidden Valley Middle school on Monday. I was a little surprised, but then he said he was calling because Lucy was selected as student of the day!  What a nice surprise! Also I can’t remember if I mentioned it but Lucy was selected as an SBO for next year. She felt bad they didn’t keep all six of the kids that ran, especially because the two that weren’t selected have been SBO’s with her this year. She is excited to maybe be able to do a few things next year if there aren’t as many restrictions.  Lilly found out she medaled in state for her scene in state drama competition. That was a nice surprise since she wasn’t selected to go on to the medals round.  Daryl is liking rugby more with each practice. He was not impressed after th...
