And then continue onward

December has been quite a full month. Evelyn’s health has been up and down and everywhere in between but somehow she keeps sticking with us. It’s wonderful and horrible and a really great test of patience. And also figuring out that what you think you have control of is an illusion. The only think you really have control of is yourself and how you choose to act or react to the situations and circumstances you face.   Evelyn is spending the majority of her time in her bed, so we decorated for Christmas mainly in her room. The Christmas tree and nativities all got set up in her room for her to get the maximum enjoyment out of.  I gave Goob a haircut one Sunday. He looked so neglected; I couldn’t stand it any more. The amount of hair that came off him was enough for a sweater or new dog.  Before Daryl got a haircut his hair was long enough for a few little ponytails. His sisters loved helping him with that.  A different view of Evelyn’s room A fun puzzle Beth put ...

Twinkling of an eye

Well November came and went pretty quickly. A lot was happening.  Here are some pictures of some of those events in no particular order.  For my birthday family activity, we went to the BYU vs San Diego women’s volleyball game. Anna came with since she was sleeping over. This was all the people in the family able to do pull ups playing on the bars at the back of the Smith Field house. They all did one pull up together but I missed that shot. Our gingerbread creation for Festival of Trees this year.  A project Beth put together and needed me to take a picture of. A note left on the ceiling of Marian’s house uncovered during the remodel.  Lucy in the gorilla costume delivering cookies to friends with her friend Molly. Molly mostly recorded people’s reactions. Best idea ever. I was really happy I had to be the supervising adult while they drove around. It provided me with great comedic relief.  Daryl and Ruth getting along well. Currently we need reminders of these...

November came

A small snapshot of Halloween and the first half of November. There was lots of other life lived but these were good moments recorded photographically, with a few descriptions. We visited Evelyn and all the grandparents on Halloween before trick or treating. Evelyn was happy to see the grandkids but didn’t want any other trick or treaters.  Beth was up early one morning and took this picture of the sunrise for me.  Halloween 2022- Daryl the UPS guy, Ruth the Light Furry dragon from How to Train Your Dragon 3, Beth-Jasmine, Lucy-mummy, she just pulled a costume out of the costume box. Above is what Lucy looked like at the start of her orthodontic care. Below is the happy day the races came off and she almost completed that care! Cool Gunner, he deals with a lot of shenanigans from the kids. I came home from takingLucy to school one morning and found both little girls hovering over the heating vents warming up before school. Silly girls  More loving on Tipper. Beth, Anna an...

The rest of October and the best dam trip

Here are things that have happened the last two weeks of October.  Lucy turned 16 on the 20th. She had her last high school volleyball game of the season that night. She wanted to win for her present but that didn’t happen. :( I did help with the team dinner and made dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls with Grandma Egbert’s help to help celebrate. I also told her teammates it was her birthday; which she had neglected to mention so they sang to her.  She got to play in the JV game that night and ended up sitting on the bench for varsity. The varsity setter rolled her ankle and they didn’t know if she would keep playing. The JV setter got injured in the JV game so she wasn’t an option. It was an exciting turn of events even if she didn’t get to play.  We went out to lunch as a family on Friday to celebrate and bought pumpkins to paint or carve but only the little girls really did that. We haven’t celebrated very good. All the things she asked for require her to try them on and ...
