My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.

Being home to attend church with our ward.

Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.

A great lesson in Young Women’s where we talked about doing small acts of service because they matter, seeing how Heavenly Father is blessing and helping you in your life, and  blessings from having the priesthood.

Being set apart as the young women’s president for our ward. It’s going to be a great adventure.

So many people expressing their love for our family and the blessing that we all walked away from the accident with injuries that will mend.

The suburban was totaled, but our insurance already paid us for the value of it. It was more than we thought they would for our old vehicle.

Food from family, Glen’s colleagues and neighbors being brought to us to show love and help us focus on recovering.

Glen and Daryl making great improvements in their brains healing from their concussions.

Lucy, Beth, Ruth and I having minor whiplash, soreness and bruising from the crash.

So many people helping us right after the accident. And Jed and his family letting us stay another night at their house and then barrow their van so we could come home.

Having a safe trip to Woodruff ID to meet up with Jed and Jill and give their van back to them today.

Having counselors and the past YW president that took care of the YW activity on Wednesday when I had parent teacher conference dinner to do as well as sick and concussed people at home.

Lucy being able to get a new parking pass for a different vehicle without any troubles at school.

Some not so great things from the week are-

Being in a crash on our first attempt to come home from Idaho a week ago Saturday.

Having to find a new car to replace the totaled suburban.

Glen and Daryl having to deal with concussions. They basically slept the first 3-4 days after the accident.

Having people with injuries that aren’t visible or cast-able, which makes it hard to remember healing takes time and to slow down and be broad for now.

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry you were in a big accident! And so grateful you were protected and loved through your hard things. I hope the healing is coming along nicely and I hope the replacement vehicle is a good one. What a week! Good luck, President Richins! I felt the weight of that calling when I had it. It's an important one.

Oh Kayci!! I am months late on this and am so sorry to hear about the accident! What a terrible trauma for your family. I hope that everyone is healed and that you aren't still having nightmares about it. That is a very scary thing. So glad that you are all still with us and hopefully that time has worked its healing power on all of you. So true about internal injuries!!

oh my goodness! An accident in a car affecting most of your family. What a scare but what a blessing all ruled into one. Like a jalapeño and cream cheese burrito. You don't know whether to like it, but you think maybe not.

Congratulations on being the young women president for your ward. Every place is Lucky when you agree to join it! I know those young women men are going to be so happy with you. Well… at least as happy as they can be considering hormones. All things are qualified when you're dealing with those , right?

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
