Round up

I know Glen already did a post on our trip to California but I wanted to do one too. So there are a bunch of pictures with comments and then I explained a little.
I love this picture I got of my brother Joe and his son Lincoln. The two of them are going to have a talk after a long day at the round-up and some sharing problems. What a good dad!

Glen's thumb back in to it's joint and being iced. Darn those onery cows.

The dirt pile from the buried fire pit is always the kids favorite!
Lilly and Lincoln hitchin' a ride up the hill from the corral on the gator.

How my day spent his time at the beach! I think he had the right idea!

Lilly loving the waves and water!

Lucy being a ham on the rocks at the beach and I think we picked the rockest part of the whole beach.
Lincoln loved diggin' in the sand and really liked having his feet burried!

It is I guess an Egbert family tradition to go to California for the Round Up. We have done it almost every year since I think I was in 2nd grade. We have friends down there with a cattle ranch and we help with their cattle round up, when they bring the herd in from grazing for a once over and to ship the past years calves. It is really one of the only ways you can get my dad on vacation. And yes we do call it a vacation even though we go down there to work, that is really why my dad will
This year it was our family, my brother, Joe, and his boy, Lincoln, and my parents. It was a lot of fun! Glen hurt his thumb but other than that everything was super fun! After the working, resting, and visiting we went to the beach which the girls LOVE! Lilly especially is a fish and loved building sand creations!
I love this family tradition!

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
