SIX

This was Lilly's birthday party with family and friends. I compromised in a way! No you can't really see her because she is being swarmed by all the other kids, but pictures were taken! (Anyone wanting to know what the back of Janae looks like with red hair, she is in the orangish hoodie on the bottom right of the picture! I'll try to get an actual front on one next time.)
Ah, the birthday girl! This was taken on the very day in her new outfit she picked out with Grandma Egbert, who tried really, REALLY hard to talk her out of the crazy pants but to no avail! Our compromise was that we did pretty much all of the activities she wanted to on her birthday but it was just our family-all 4.5 of us! She got to go out with both Grandma's to pick out what she would like for her presents! We went to Evelyn and Roberta's! We went swimming! And we went out to dinner at Leatherby's and shared the LARGE banana split.
Then on Sunday we invited her friend's family over for dinner and cake and ice cream at which time the extended family came to join us! I made her an Ariel cake as requested and rolls for part of dinner. So I think it was a success!

As for Lilly, she is a fun, goofy, smart girl, who randomly bursts in to song, likes reading as long as she isn't forced to do it, loves playing with her cousins, is stubborn and opinionated, and a good big sister among other things! And we wouldn't want her any other way!

And since May is a big birthday month I'll take this moment to say,"Happy Birthday" to Clara, Mark , Derek, Heather, Uncle Fred, Rachel, Emma, Andy, Hana, Aunt Maridean, Matthew, Paige, Azya, Colton and Lizzie! (Sorry people with birthday's in other months, maybe I'll have to do a monthly birthday post.) Hope all of you had or have a wonderful day!

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
