Late skunk saga update

Right after we returned from Logan, the girls and I headed to Herriman to check on my in-laws dogs and the Cranes. We had just gotten to the Cranes and I was talking to their neighbor over the fence when we heard Evelyn yell something. I quickly went to see what the matter was and found out that Lucy had been headed down through the grass towards the tree where the cats are feed except it wasn't a cat eating. So Evelyn yelled and scared the skunk away and got Lucy to turn around.
Evelyn ask us to stay a while because the evening I had missed the skunk, not long after I left it came back. So that is what we did. We stayed for a while. Now I should mention that this was the second sighting of the day. My mom had been there earlier in the morning, when one of the skunks came out. This time the skunk was lucky because she missed even though she swears she lined everything up like she did when she hit the other one.
Anyways, we waited around a while and sure enough TWO skunks came and started eating the cat food. I got the gun out and tried to line things up, though I really am not that good with guns, and took a shot. This time I hit one of them!
Don't get to excited though because it made the little critter wriggle but was an injury. The shot scared the second skunk off and made the one I hit move for cover. It didn't stay there long, before it headed back to it's home so I followed it and ended up taking two more shots at it. Both where misses. So I was/am a little bummed.
We haven't been able to tell if I injured it enough that it died or what happened. All I know is the next day there was a stronger skunk smell in the area where the critters live and a few days later two skunks were sighted again.
I don't know if I mortally wounded that skunk and there is a fourth one we didn't know about or if it was just a mere flesh wound and made the skunk hide out for awhile before coming out again. I really didn't/don't want to go searching or digging to find a wounded or dead skunk. So "this may be a mystery never fully revealed!" At least until we more assuredly get rid of a few more skunks.
I am sure the saga will continue, it just may take longer for the next installment because our free and easy summer schedule or lack there of has ended due to the arrival of FIRST GRADE.
I might also add that when Glen got back from camp and heard about this I mentioned maybe we should go shooting together and there was NO hesitation in his reply of okay. Then he added," maybe we should get you your own gun.?!" We will have to see what happens!

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
