September Boys-

September is one of my favorite months. Mostly because it's the month the main men in my life were born! My Dad, my husband, and my son plus some others! All with in a week or so time. The D's actually on the same day! I can't even express how glad I am to have them all in my life and how much I love them. They are such a force for good and source of strength, comfort, and refuge for me. Happy Birthday Daryl, Dad and Glen!

We had a little family get together for them, but the older two bowed out and let the youngster that the spotlight. I wasn't up for a cake so we did cupcakes. Since it was to celebrate Glen and Daryl's days I did two kinds. The top chocolate one is like a home made ding dong, and the other is a colorburst cupcake. They are both from Our Best Bites. Both were WONDERFUL!

Below is a sort of step by step of Daryl vs. the cupcake. It's worth while. He did not disappoint and I think he won! Don't mind his crazy looking mother laughing at him being scared of the not quite on key singing that is tradition with my side of the family. It really is that off thanks to Uncle Jed! (What kind of mother is she?)

As a side note this cute kid now weighs 23lbs., is 30 3/4 inches tall and really really close to walking. He's even started taking four or five steps by himself. We are definitely fine with him not walking right now. It will come soon enough.

That's a beautiful picture of Glen and Daryl. So glad you have both of them. Tell Glen his cousin thinks his dimple is adorable. See if he snickers.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
