Besides Christmas

Pictures from my cell phone of our progress
If I was smarter than my computer I would only have one collage but alas I am not so you have two.

pictures from the real camera of our progress

On top of the holidays we, a little bit, and my brothers,  Dad, brother-in-law, who ever we can get, have been working on our basement remodel. To think of it all makes my head hurt. It has been a HUGE project, with about 700 mini projects that have to happen to make the finished project. We are currently on 357!  We have had lots of down time where nothing happens, but we have had good things happening lately so I have decided to share.

We did a bunch during the summer, including taking out the laundry room. So I haven't done laundry at my house in probably five months.  We have recently made some big progress and are almost done with all the demolition and getting in to the actual constructing!

By time we are done we will have replaced all of the windows in the basement, as much of the electrical in the whole house as we could, new plumbing in most of the house-pipes, main stack, moved toilets drains and showers in the basement and added a sink for the laundry room, maybe even a water softener (that is yet to be determined?), reframed and insulated the whole basement after turning it on it's head, and then we'll get to the sheet rock, paint, trim work, flooring and all the stuff I might get  to start thinking about soon.

Are you tired yet? ...    I am.  Maybe it's the extra grunt labor I have been trying to pitch in with.

I am ready for a smaller project, like redoing the master bedroom and bathroom upstairs! AH.

I hadn't really appreciated the magnitude of this project until now. Wow! That is a lot of work. I especially liked the picture of Glen triumphant in the window.

Good luck with the rest of the remodel. Can't wait to see more pictures of the progress!

Young redheads in pigtails and purple add to this project more than anything. Looks extremely ambitious. Yes, it does make me tired.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
