The girls are in change of washing and rinsing dishes tonight. I loaded the dish washer and it's already running and Glen is at Young men's, since he is now the president.
There are still dishes. So they are helping. I will dry, if they get more than two for me to dry in the drying rack.
They have turned the dishes in to toys. There is a wife, who is drowning in to hot of rinse water, floor gnomes, talking happy tongs, some bubble blowing in the rinse water, eating of dish soap bubbles, and a song being sung about dirt. I have my amusement for the evening.
The sink is as full of water as it can be, their hands are prunes, the floor is wet in front of the sink, and a large stack of uncleaned dishes still remain. It is bed time though, so I guess I'll be finishing dishes. But I did get Daryl to sleep while waiting for them. I can't complain about an evening where the kids help with dishes while getting along, and giving me good entertainment and the chance to rock my baby boy to sleep. Life is good.
I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home.
One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.)
In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that.
