Catching up

So I am going to try and do some catching up.
I always think that printing my blog would be a cool thing and worth the money because it is like a journal. I know there is a lot missing so I am going to be going back and putting stuff in. I will do some more present stuff just to try and keep with what is happening now, and put some old stuff up too and then change the date in a little while so it will be in the right order.

Since I read Heather's post about what is new in her life and I am in a purging mood I will throw some stuff out on the table. In no particular order here are some things I like or am doing or trying.

Eating better- I have been reading, mostly just glossing the surface, about different diets. I have been trying to make better choices and have done a few sugar free week challenges. I can totally tell a difference, but I am still not very good being a consistent good food eater and preparer. In fact my body has been craving healthy stuff since the holidays.
There is a lady that lives not too far from us that teaches plant based cooking classes. I went to an introductory one and am going to a more in depth one at the end of the month.
I have felt one of my biggest problems in eating healthier is skills and recipes to do it. I have felt like I am reinventing the wheel or something. So I am working on knowledge and skills.

Exercising- I am working on being consistent in exercising too. I go in big cycles. I think I burn myself out or loose focus and my determination, motivation and staying ability have a short fuse and burn hot so after not too long I quit and don't do anything for a while and then I feel junky so I start up again and then the cycle begins again. I have been trying to venture out of my comfort zone more and am really liking pilates and yoga more and more. A balanced life is one of the sites that I have liked.

Good writing and good pictures- I don't consume books like my husbands family does. I like to read though. I am again working on reading more books or listening to them at least. I am currently listening to Astonish Me. I also am a sucker for good photographs. Here are some of the blogs that I like reading lately-Meg In Progress,  Scenes from the Wild, The Garlick Press, and Cassandra's ruminations. If you want to know some history, the middle two are friends and the last one is the third's daughter's blog. Anyway I enjoy them all even though I don't know any of them personally. Though Lisa and Dean at the Garlick press make Jiggy Stick, and they are my favorite lip balm, and I give the sticks and the other products as presents to people all of the time. I also really like the back story of how their buisness came to be. Not the death but making something out of a tragedy.

Day One- I saw some one using this app and it peaked my couriosity. Months later when I saw that person again I ask her what it was. It was worth the money to me. It is a journaling app. You can put pictures with your entries and it collects weather time and location information and puts that with your entry as well. I think it will do a bunch of other things as well and there are printing options for your entries, I just haven't gotten that far with it though. I have really liked it, but it has helped in my decrease of blog posts. I am hoping to fix that though!

Bracing for a change-  the other thing that is always on my mind is the impending change of life that will happen when my job ends with the Crane's. I feel it inching closer and closer all of the time. The changes in both Evelyn and Roberta are more and more evident. Sometimes the thought of them not being around catches me off guard and makes me emotional.
Glen mentioned to me that I am his BFF a little while ago. (He works at a middle school. I think these things just come up.) It made me think of who my BFF's are; He is the top one but Evelyn and Roberta are probably right behind him. It's hard to watch loved ones age and move out of this life.
Another thing that adds to this impending change is my brother's ten week basic training. My brother, Jed,  just left on for basic training in Georgia because he has joined the National Guard. I am praying that Evelyn and Roberta stay around those weeks, until he can return.

So here are a few things that are not so much new but a part of my life, incase anyone is interested.

I love having the view of your life with Evelyn and Roberta included. Plus, the rest of your post was really about YOU, and not the kids. A mom is a beautiful chronicler, but sometimes forgets she is also beautiful in and of herself. The way you think and the things you value bring good things into the world.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
