How do you celebrate 4?

Balloons? Didn't happen.  A great big sign? No. Bunting and streamers and confetti? Not here.
So how did our little boy celebrate his fourth birthday?
By visiting and playing with lots of people he loves.
We started out the day by walking up the street to visit Denny, because sometimes you just need a Denny day.
Denny and his wife Dian were in nursery with Daryl and he has remained one of Daryl's favorite friends and buddies. It helps he has a cool swing set, a horse and pony, a puppy and an old dog and a cool John Deere riding lawn mower, fun toys inside, a good treat stash and a super fun personality.
Next we went to visit Gwen, another neighbor friend. She lets us help feed her chickens and has fun toys to play with sometimes. She is really nice and gave Daryl some bubbles. She is like a neighbor grandma. She even walked us back home (probably because Daryl wasn't ready to leave yet or he had something really important to show Gwen.)
After all that visiting we rested. We were going to go have lunch at work with Dad but birthdays are big and you have to take them instride. Also never wake a sleeping Ruthie if you don't have too.
Once we were rested we got to go check out Grandma and Grandpa Egbert's construction site. They are building a house and Daryl is good at overseeing the work. He has pretty much been in heaven with all the equipment and trucks and different things going on with it.
Then off to Evelyn and Roberta's. More of his favorite people, and a birthday card with money in it for him to buy something he wants.
Then a visit with Karen, Evelyn and Roberta's neighbor, who is like another grandma. She is so good to all of us, and one of Daryl's good friends too.
Of course he needed to give Karen's dogs, Tia and Shadow a treat and loves on his birthday, and they had to return the the loving.
And before we left to go home he got to see Grandpa Lynn, who he shares a birthday with. They are sure silly together sometimes.
On the way home we went shopping for the all important birthday dinner. He got to be in charge of his own cart and his mom didn't completely loose her sanity in the process.
And what do you have for dinner at four? Why your favorite foods in your favorite color- macaroni and cheese with ham, carrots, corn on the cob, peaches, and Cheetos. Orange is his favorite color if you couldn't tell.
For dessert a birthday brownie with chocolate chocolate ganache ice cream.
But before the day is over you need a ride in chitty chitty bang bang with Grandma Richins and a birthday shopping trip to Walmart for whatever your little four year old heart wants that is in th birthday budget price range.
It happened to be a way cool Spiderman remote control motorcycle.

And that is how we celebrated 4 with our boy. What a day and what a boy!

As side note at his four year check up he was 40 inches tall and 40 pounds and doing great. He even got to avoid shots because he has a whole school year before kindergarten.

Fun pictures! Adorable boy. I am guessing his birthday isn't in January from the pictures...

He's just perfect -- all those 4 numbers! What great photos too. I'm glad he has such a wide selection of grandparents and nearly-grandparents to celebrate with him. That's a gift you just can't buy.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
