February in pictures...and a few words

I am in full on catch up mode. I can and will keep a record of this year.

Glen drew this on the Valentine's Day card my mom sent my brother Jed while he was at basic training. It always amazes me that he can just whip these out and they always look good.

Glen and I were exercising early in the mornings in the garage during the first part of the year. Ruth woke up early so got to sit in the stroller and watch. We were very entertaining.

Daryl playing with straws.

Ruth and Evelyn bringing in groceries

Swinging after feeding the cats for Evelyn

Daryl and Beck, who I tend, testing the structural integrity of the garage

Breakfast with Cranes. Nothing fancy but perfect in every way.

Watching Logan and his siblings so his mom can have a break while dad was at training. We would try and take Jed's kids for a few hours on Friday or Saturday to give Jill a bit of a breather.

Enjoying beautiful warm February

Celebrating Lincoln's 9th birthday

Lucy let me braid her hair and then took a selfie. She will smile in pictures if she takes them.

tower of Lincoln logs. just thought it looked cool.

building cool things with Dad.

playing with blocks and the cool dinosaur Lucy got with Grandma Richins at DI.

Beck playing in the dirt. It was a really warm February.

Just a glance at some of the selfies that Ruth took on my phone.

Cousins. Meeting with the Porters and Janet Pederson and her son and some of his coworkers at El Ferrols. Steven and Glen hadn't seen each other in about twenty years. They were all in town for RootsTec.

Ruth likes to practice using the potty, sometimes she needs distractions or is multitasking.

TaLyn and Lucy being silly after helping with dishes after Sunday dinner.

Daryl loves car washes. Ruth not so much.

Dylan turned 11 in heaven. His short life seems so long ago but then just the other day at the same time.

The child in the swing with the blue sky is a photo that ought to win a contest. If you e-mail it to me, I'll enter it in a contest. Or you do it -- try Smithsonian. I see nifty photos like that all the time on their site.

Was Dylan your brother? Who knew Glen could draw so well? And I want to get to know Lucy. She seems really fun.

Sorry, I should clarify on Dylan. He is my brother Joe's oldest son. He is the oldest grandchild on the Egbert side and was born two and a half months before Lilly. He was born with a sever heart defect which they tried to fix or help with several surgeries. He fought hard but returned to heaven after ten days on earth. That is probably far more than you wanted to know.
On a happier note Lucy is so fun. I would recommend getting to know her.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
