Ruth at 2

March 11th, Ruth had "my happy biwthday." She loved it and still loves talking about it. She will tell you, "I two." and hold up her thumb and pointer finger to display it. Holding the ring and pinkie fingers down with her thumb while her pointer and middle finger are up is more hassle than it is worth right now.
I seem to be having a memory laps details from the day but this is what I can remember  and what was captured in picture.

She wanted and ipad cake or a kitty cake. Since I am not spending vast amounts of time on cake decorating these days we went with the kitty. Hello Kitty to be exact. She loves kitties these days and pretends to be one often. It is usually very cute, but not really when it is about midnight and she should be sleeping but isn't because of to long of a late nap and she decides to quit talking and just be a kitty. That tests her mother's patience.
She got got Baby Lit books and probably something else, but I don't remember what.
She was telling me that she was my friend that day so we must have sent a snapchat to my sisters.
Aunt Ali sent a happy birthday reply back from class.

I am sure she got to play on Glen's ipad, which is one of her favorite things to do.

The other kids were helping me in the kitchen but I think it was mostly snitching frosting. They propbably called themselves official taste testers.

A few other things about Ruth at two. She talks really well for her age and says just about everything. In fact below is a video of her talking about animals in a zoo book.
We have mostly given up on naps because they usually happen to late in the day which ends in a disastrous night. She had definite opinions about things. She loves milk and anything with sugar in any form. She likes me the best but is usually much better behaved for everyone else. She reminds me of the nursery rhyme of the little girl with the curl right in the middle of her forehead. She plays around with pottying in the toilet and does it when she wants. She loves baby dolls, and having a ponytail in her hair. She also thinks she is as big as Daryl and tries to do whatever he is doing. When he is not around she asks, "Where my Darey?"
She is mostly sweet and fun and gives great kisses and hugs and we all love her to pieces.

I think the reason two year olds are so adorable is so you don't throw them in the garbage. It looks like she will be safe! And we love the baby lit books still--Anna Kanenina and Pide Uh Pududuh are especially awesome!

I love how your band aids are labeled "shark bite." She's such a sweet little gal. I'm glad you are aware of that this year, because some Mom's are too busy to notice until too late. Enjoying it right now is so much better than remembering fondly.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
