Following good examples

Lately I have really loved Heather posting weekly for Mariah and everyone else's  benefit. So I am going to see if I can do something similar.  I have also found I just don't remember the cute, funny things my kids say like I think I will, and I want to document them.
Also I have gained great insight and even had answers to prayers come from the good things that people are doing and writing about. Maybe I can help someone out for good too?
An example of this is Kirsta's remember post about patriarchal blessings. When I finally did that it was such a good thing for me.
Those Nielsen girls are such good examples!
So here are the highs and maybe lows of our week.
It was Festival of Trees week last week and this was my family's gingerbread creation for Dylan this year. It was called "I'll be gnome for Chriatmas." We worked on this the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Monday morning I let the kids miss school to get assessed by grandpa and the other medic students. They did pretty well. I missed the picture of Beth being surrounded and held by all these big firemen guys. It would have been a good one. Grandpa took up to lunch afterwards! It was great!
When we got to Evelyn and Roberta's, Ruth wanted to do her puzzle while I was feeding Beth. Evelyn decided to get down and help her. It was very cute but made Evelyn realize how old she is. Sometimes she forgets. It was not an easy task to get up.
We also decorated for Christmas at our house but somehow I don't have a picture of our tree yet.
Monday night to Tuesday I cooked our turkey. This is what 42lbs. of turkey looks like cooked. I got four gallon ziplock bags full of meat from him. I have a whole post about our turkey raising and killing experience coming.

Yes Beth is eating sorry. Daryl really like being by her head and seeing her. This is what we deal with a lot.
My daily buddies and me.
Beth is smiling these days and it makes us love her even more and do all sorts of silliness to try and get a smile from her.

This captures Ruth well lately. She has gone between being "Queen Elsa of Airendale," and a tiger. She doesn't even break character for bed. I just make her change the clothes underneath the dress up and put it back on.

"Queen Elsa" ended up with a hair cut from her brother on Wednesday. She came out of the office and said,"Darie cut my hair can you glue it back on?"  Just when I though we were done with that phase for a bit.  Daryl told our friend Karen that he had made a good decision because he hadn't cut his hair with the scissors.

The new hair do. We think she looks like a little Julie Andrews.

Friday I actually got ready for the day. I must have taken too long though because I found Daryl and Ruth like this when I came out. They had made microwave popcorn all by themselves and were enjoying Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood on t.v.
We have a lot of this going on too. Everyone loves having a turn holding Beth.
A few things not pictures would be the date Glen and I went on. That was nice and it is even nicer to have a kid old enough and responsible enough to babysit everyone but Beth.
Evelyn isn't pictured. She seems to be slipping some more. It is hard to watch and tests our patience because she still wanta to be very independent.

I am going to have to diversify who I take pictures of so everyone can make an appearance but that is the just of our week.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
