18 month Bethany

Bethany is busy. She loves to climb, wear shoes- especially if they are ones other people want to be wearing, playing in water, eating sand, trying to be big like Daryl and Ruth. She also love to be on the tables or counter tops. I think this is my doing. When my arms get tired of holding her or packing her around or I need to use both hands for something I set her down. The closest place that makes her the happiest is the counter, so that is usually where she lands. The floor generally makes her mad, but because of this she likes to be on tables and counters much more than she should.
Her favorite thing to do during family prayer is to go around exposing the gap between everyone's pants and shirts while kneeling down and blow raspberries on their lower back. It makes it a little harder to be reverent during prayers when that is happening.
She likes nursery once she is there; she just isn't too happy to be left there especially if I am the one dropping her off.
Her eyes were blue like her dad and sisters but they have gone more hazel the last little while. It is very pretty, and she has amazing eyelashes.
She has had more ear infections than any of my other kids.
I am hoping once her teeth are all in that will help.
She loves books, and writing on paper and lots of things she shouldn't, like computer screens. She also loves to be on the desk. Also playing in the dog's water dish when she can get to it is something she thinks is super fun.
She loves to be outside and just goes and goes until I make her stop by putting her in the car seat or something and then after some protesting she is usually out.
We are so glad she is here to keep us on our toes

Dads on the floor -- they're the foundation of a secure childhood. The climbing all over dad and watching him laugh right down on your level makes a kid a happy and stable person.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
