my children

For #lighttheworld today you are suppose to do something nice for your children and spend time with them. I don't know if i succeed. I mean I was with them and did stuff for and with them but not exactly the stuff I think they were wanting.
I decided that I would highlight a few fun things about each of them. They help light my world. They are the best and hardest all at the same time. Most days I am sure I am just giving them good fuel for counseling later in life because of all of my parenting mistakes. Fortunately for me they still love me and haven't convinced Glen to find a new mom for them even when I am at my worst.
Ruth would really like to be bigger and older than she is and an only child or at least the oldest child. She comforts herself by playing with hair. mostly mine. She is very needy. She might also aspire to be a barber and started practicing her skills a little too early for my liking. Good thing hair grows. She has already decided who she is marrying and how many kids she is having and what she is going to do for work. She is starting to read and loves school, being silly, tickling  and teasing people and is very competitive, especially if Daryl is involved. She is fierce and has a pretty quick and sometimes violent temper that we are working on. At the same time though she wants to please and has a tender heart.
Beth is the baby that has never wanted to sit still or be little. She is always on the go. She is talking up a storm these days and says some funny things. She really would like pony tails in her hair but the #4 clipper cut that she is sporting these days thanks to Ruth just doesn't allow it. She has resorted to wearing head bands and other pretties to make up for it. She loves the water. She asks for baths multiple times a day sometimes and when she doesn't get her way finds some way to get significantly wet. She loves outside and jumping and running. Most mornings she wants to go outside for a walk. She does't want to miss out on things so she doesn't like to go to sleep usually. She is getting to be quite bossy and can defiantly tell you what she likes or doesn't like in life. She is sweet and goofy and loves to read or be read too. She also really likes ducks right now.

Daryl is so social. He can talk pretty easily to anyone and is really interested in a lot of things. He asks a lot of questions. He still loves anything with a motor. Once he gets an idea in his head it is hard to change his mind. Along with that once you mention something might happen it better happen with him. He is kind and considerate and mostly really good with his sisters. He know how to push all of their buttons quite well. He still likes to cuddle and be affectionate. He looks extra cute with his missing teeth. He is likes his Irish dance class and even showed it off to his school class one day. He is a good friend and nice thoughtful boy.

Lucy is a well rounded fun girl. She loves dogs and is reading the Dog encyclopedia to find out more about the differet breeds. She likes drawing and writing and being crafty. She also is competitive and likes exercising. She is a book worm especially if the story has a dog in it. She puts up with having to walk to school with Daryl. She is our most attentive goat feeder and plays with Gunner as well.

Lilly is growing up but still a kid at heart. She can be very helpful with her siblings but likes playing with other little kids too. She saw I was getting low on patience tonight and got Beth to bed all of her own acord. That was such a nice thing to do. She loves all things plays and theater. She wants justice and things to be fair in life. She will be responsible and in charge when she wants but would just as often want a break and hang out with the grand parents.

They are great kids and I am working hard to make sure they know how much I love them.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
