What happened this week?

The most impressive recent thing from this week was from church. A lady in our ward, Cassie (standing next to the piano player) is part of an acapella group (even though this is not acapella) and they sang in sacrament meeting. As Glen said, " That was impressive!"  Lucky for you they have a video of them singing it which is just about as good!  The rest of sacrament meeting was really good too. My visiting teacher Rachel talked about Mary and the birth process, customs of the time and things along those lines. It was really good reminder to continue to watch for miracles and to not doubt them.  Then the man who spoke basically read Elder Bednar's 2015 Christmas devotional talk. It was really good.
During Sunday school I went with Glen to the teacher council meeting where a lot of great things were talked about in preparation for the new curriculum for priesthood and relief society. The best part was seeing my husbands eyes light up when  giving comments and hearing the discussion about better teaching practices.  It has a lot to do with asking good questions. He loved teaching so much...still does.  The Relief society lesson was good and on being a member missionary.

In other happenings we made it through Glen's busiest work week in December. Yahoo!
We are trying to give away our changing table and probably the toddler bed soon too. The crib and turns in to a head and foot board for a bed so it can stay. New phase of life.
I finished a quilt I made for Ellie, my niece. It was only two weeks past her birthday! I also finished quilting my first hopefully paying quilt.
There was a lot of shopping and Christmas carding. For us and Evelyn and Roberta.  Lots of shoe trying on by Beth. It is her favorite thing. She is really good at getting two left shoes of completely different styles.
Ruth had her last day of preschool for the year. Oh not pictured was Beth being traumatized by Santa talking to her while at Glen's work. It was terrible for her but really funny.
Some of the kids got sick. We are hoping they are on the mend and this means they won't be sick for Christmas, which tends to happen a lot.

Unapproved baths. I told Beth she couldn't have a bath in Grandma's big tub so she "washed dishes."

Playing with my hair. Her hair can just make it in a ponytail.
Playing with the RC car and scaring the dog.

Ojai California

Lastly I got a bunch of pictures of California and fire stuff from Joe who is on a task force from Utah helping to fight them. We hope he makes it home for Christmas but it's not certain.
Half of the firemen on the side of the fire he is on.

So many good things! That song was just beautiful. And I love seeing the shenanigans at your house--shoes and unapproved baths and playing salon and all. It gives me a feeling of solidarity with you knowing you are doing the things we do. I'm so impressed with the narwhal quilt too! You give amazing gifts.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
