a few things of note-
Lucy is playing on the junior high volleyball team. She has improved so much doing this and this past week they won both of their games! It was to see them keep things together and hold out for the wins. They haven’t been able to do that before.
Lilly is down to one play. Whew! For a few weeks she was doing stage crew for one show and rehearsals for another. She was gone a lot, but loved it. She’s in a play in Midvale with her friend. Both mom’s are so happy to have a carpool buddy! It’s great!
Beth turned 3 and Lucy turned 12. It’s crazy that we have two girls in young women’s now. Lucy lucked out and just missed the primary program. It is next week and she is not sad she doesn’t have to be in it! Beth is a sassy spitfire. She told Glen today while he was changing her that he should pottty train her. It was amusing. She says fun weird things all the time like, “hold on to your belly button!”
It’s been fall break from school. Just what we needed. Glen worked on the fencing project and got posts set and concrete poured with my dad and brother helping. It’s coming along.
Daryl does not like homework. He has set homework every week though and the week before break we helped him see that homework and practice help. He hadn’t been doing great on spelling tests and then we were really good about doing homework and that week he got 100%. He still doesn’t like it but can see it’s purpose better now!
We went to the BYU vs Pepperdine women’s volleyball game on Saturday. It was fun to watch really good volleyball and goof around on campus with our kids and Lucy’s friend Gracie.
I should mention Ruth. She’s around too but kind of bent out of shape because other people are having birthdays and getting things and not her. She is loving kindergarten still. She likes dance but wants to take ballet or jazz or other kinds too, plus gymnastics and swimming with grandpa. She really just wants to be bigger and older to do more.
Church today was really good. The youth speaker spoke about the Book of Mormon and her experiences with it helping her have better days and feel closer to a friend that recently passed away that she found out was good at reading her scriptures daily.
Then a newlywed couple spoke about the Book of Mormon and seeing God’s hand in our lives. Cassidy Cieslack talked about her life, which was hard. Her mom died when she was 7, her family moved from Alaska to florida where her dad found and evil step mother. They moved back to Alaska, the step mother bankrupt their family, then her dad died when she was 12. Her brother and her ended up in Utah with extended family and were introduced to the church. She talked about how she could look back and see God’s had helping her in her life and that the gospel has made a huge difference in her life and she is so grateful to know she can be with her parents again one day. She also read the story of the currant bush by Hugh B Brown.
He husband Joe talked about meeting his wife through social media and his mission in Uganda before that. He was able to see God’s hand in his life and learn patience fromthose experiences. Like being blessed with his training companion being from the same city as him to a companion later on that he butted heads with but learned to listen to and respect. It was all a really good reminder to remember all that Heavenly Father does for us.
