Giving Thanks

I have really given up social media except for my blog and an occasional Marco Polo, which I don’t think counts. My life is just better with out it.

This is my attempt to post everyday things I am thankful for. It may include things other family members are grateful for on some days as well.

Today is my birthday so I am especially thankful for my life. I have wonderful parents and excellent in-laws and a most fabulous husband and pretty great kids.

Glen took the day off work to help me with some projects at the Villa, which is the place I quilt. After not being around him for 10 days it was the perfect present. I know it was a sacrifice for him because he loves his routine. The kids took care of themselves and didn’t call with any problems.

I got birthday wishes from all of my siblings. They are some of my favorite people!

I have a good life. I get to work doing things I really enjoy. I have flexibility to help at my kids schools like I like too. My health is really good on the whole as well as my family’s. I have enough and to spare. It is a good life.

Happy late birthday! I thought about you on the 23rd and meant to text you but I don't think I did. Super lame! I am glad you still have things to be grateful for. I am grateful for you. What a blessing that we get to be related to each other!

OH!!! Happiest of birthdays to you, Kayci! I love that you are a Thanksgiving week birthday. I am very thankful for you and your perspective. You have such a down to earth way of making service a part of your very being that I would like to emulate. Thank you for accepting Glen's family as your own too. I feel like we got anther "sister-soul" when he married you! Lots of love and happiness to you.

Having "enough and to spare." We all ought to recognize that. You did such a beautiful job. Also, Happy Late Birthday! You're one of the good things in my life.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
