December days

Here is what our week looked like in pictures.  2020 seems to be keeping us on our toes all the way to the end.

Daryl is still on quarantine from school for covid  exposure. He's been coming to work with me. He got out Evelyn's cars one day because he's a bit of a car guy.
Ruth makes fun notes and drawings around that are fun to find.
We had our back spigot break on us.  Good thing Glen is such a handy guy. He's been a champ and taken care of all of it. He dried everything out, fixed the spigot, and has dry wall back on the walls, and drywall and mud back on the walls to fix it.
Beth has started drawing people. She draws her pictures on whatever paper she can find and they are fun to find.
Evelyn let me color her hair and give her a  bath on Tuesday. It might have had something to do with "the old white haired lady that kept looking at her in the bathroom mirror," and my mom telling her she was going to use ice water to give her a bath. (in teasing) I came in at the right time, promised to use warm water and make the white hair disappear. The picture was to prove to her I had.
Daryl started writing poems. He brought these out to show me the other day. He's full of surprises.

He also did great in the little outside recital his music teacher held. He did not want to do it at all. I think this was the perfect kind of recital for him.
We even had a little sing-a-long with Daryl and Ruth taking turns playing duets with their teacher. It was great!

We watched five of my brother's boys  over the weekend and I got to take Mason to his first recital too.
He did great.

We drove around to look at Christmas lights after Daryl and Ruth's recital. We put my brother's 12 passenger van to good use, filling up all the seats and found this cool house close to my parents that syncs the lights on their house to a playlist they broadcast on a shortwave radio. It was a hit.
One of the highlights not pictured was zoom church and home sacrament. Our testimony and Sunday school were really good today. All of the testimonies seemed to have a theme of 'God knows us and is in the details of our lives' and 'we need each other.' I couldn't agree more. Having this option right now has been a huge blessing.

I loved everything! But I especially wrote the things your kids wrote. The Harry Potter note could have been found at our house. And I loved the people and the poetry. Especially the one that featured wise men bringing mur.

Your creative children! What lucky things they are that you love what they make. An appreciative audience makes all the difference. Plus, you're lucky to have them. The photo of Roberta's perfect hair was wonderful.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
