Ruth at 8

Last week Ruth turned eight exciting years old. She was so excited for her birthday she could hardly contain herself with anticipation and excitement. She did make it. I think everything went pretty well that day considering the hype and pedistool the day was set on.  She got to go shopping with Grandma Richins the day before. She got presents that were surprises to her on her birthday.(I guess that is not one of my strengths generally.) We went to a trampoline park and played as a family, for the most part. Lilly was doing school stuff. Then we met up with Grandma and Grandpa Richins and ALL the Rindlisbachers for dinner at Texas Road House.  Lastly we went home and had ocean cake and ice cream of her choosing for dessert.

Here are some things about Ruth at 8-

She likes Pokémon, unicorns and rainbows, Star Wars, and Harry Potter.

She likes to read graphic novels like Wings of Fire.

She loves to play with hair, especially the front right side of her hair. Anybody’s will do though and I have to make her ask for permission to play with mine because other wise she just starts to do it.

She mostly just likes cotton leggings for pants no denim.

She has climbed to the top of our rope swing the most in the family and can climb to the top of the rope at gymnastics too.

She only likes simple foods and is fairly picky.

She loves animals, drawing, climbing trees, playing pretend and sleeping in.

She has a hard time getting to school or wanting to go but loves it when she is there.

She has big emotions and feels things deeply, which sometimes leads to her needing her own space for awhile.

She is so excited to get her ears pierced

I think she is a highly sensitive child and am reading a book on them to help me try to help her more.

She challenges me to be a better more thoughtful and consistent mom.

We are so happy to have this spicy gal in our lives..

She is getting baptized the second Saturday in April and is so excited. If you would like the zoom link let me know in the comments.

Happy Birthday Ruthie!

Last picture as a seven year old.

A happy eight year old at the end of our visit to Airborne labyrinth to celebrate her day.

What a gift to the world. You and Glen are to be commended. She's also pretty lucky in the parents she got. Go! Team Richins!

The trampoline park is the perfect setting for a party at that age.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
