When I grow up

Let’s start with pictures this week and then you can skip my ramblings easier.
This is Lilly holding her drivers license above and then her by herself driving to the school for call time for Matilda. She’s growing up

I have started paying attention to my sourdough starts again. I have a weird relationship with bread so we cycle through feast or famine modes of having it at the house. I also tend to bake more when I am stressed. I must be stressed.
This picture and the one below were found on my phone from the cute girls in them. They are definitely a growing up.

I couldn’t resist taking this picture of Grandma Richins teasing Daryl. He takes up a lot more room on her lap that he use too. He is growing up.
We went to Scheel’s to get a setter’s volleyball for Lucy and the younger kids needed a picture with one of the statues. (Incase you are wondering a setter’s volleyball is a weighted volleyball to increase hand and finger strength.)
I made whole wheat sourdough waffles and they tasted wonderful but would have won an episode of Nailed It on appearance.

Here are the lyrics to the song the title comes from. And here is a video of it. The kids sing about all the things they will get to do as a grown up.  Lucky for them they don’t know all the things they get to do when they grow up. Sometimes it’s a lot and thinking about the days when you weren’t grown up seem a little similar. Luckily you can change your story if you like or need too just like in the song.

 [Tommy]
When I grow up
I will be tall enough to reach the branches
That I need to reach to climb the trees
You get to climb when you're grown up

[Bruce]
And when I grow up
I will be smart enough to answer all
The questions that you need to know
The answers to, before you're grown up

[Eric, Alice]
And when I grow up
I will eat sweets everyday on the way to work
And I will go to bed late every night

[Tommy, Bruce, Eric, Alice]
And I will wake up
When the sun comes up
And I will watch cartoons until my eyes go square

All children]
And I won't care 'cause I'll be all grown up
When I grow up

When I grow up

When I grow up

When I grow up
I will be strong enough to carry all
The heavy things you have to haul around with you
When you're a grown up

And when I grow up
When I grow up
When I grow up
I will be brave enough to fight the creatures
That you have to fight beneath the bed
Each night to be a grown up

And when I grow up (When I grow up)
I will have treats everyday
And I'll play with things that mum pretends
That mums don't think are fun

And I will wake up (I will wake up)
When the sun comes up
And I will spend all day just lying in the sun
And I won't burn 'cause I'll be all grown up

When I grow up

Miss Honey]
When I grow up
I will be brave enough to fight the creatures
That you have to fight beneath the bed
Each night to be a grown up
When I grow up

[Matilda]
Just because you find that life's not fair
It doesn't mean that you just have to grin and bear it
If you always take it on the chin and wear it
Nothing will change

[Miss Honey]
When I grow up

Matilda]
Just because I find myself in this story
It doesn't mean that everything is written for me
If I think the ending is fixed already
I might as well be saying
I think that it's ok
And that's not right

Yay for Lilly getting her license to drive!! That is fun exciting stuff. I can't wait for Will to get his!

I can't believe how big your Daryl is getting. So much fun that Grandma Richins teases him and holds him on her lap :)

We all have our coping mechanisms when we get stressed out. Bread seems like a pretty good one to me! Sorry you're stressed out, though. Hope things calm down for you!

I want to live next door to you and keep you continuously stressed. I'll bring over Nutella and Jam and Peanut Butter in a continual stream of toppings.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
