Middle of Summer …slump

We are five weeks in to summer and have about five weeks to go. I am still in school. I believe we are in a summer slump, or I am in one. Spring semester has been really good in some ways and really hard in most cases. Not that I feel like I do summer well for or with  my kids but this one seems like an all time low. :(
The good news is I have about a week left in the semester and then my summer break starts!
On to good things from last week.  I keep forgetting to take pictures of what we are doing.
Swimming at Grandma and Grandpa Egbert’s pool,
Doing laundry at the villa and Evelyn’s because of a broken washing machine,
Some of the kids working for Grandma and Grandpa Richins,
Making cookie bars,
Figuring out my phone hasn’t been getting group messages for a month but figuring out how to at least get them again even if I can’t respond or send them,
Annoying each other,
Working on summer school -Lilly, Lucy and me,
Quilting,
Going on Sunday drives and hikes,
Glen fixed the washer by the end of the week.

Ellie wanted a sucker from this closet. She said she couldn’t get one by herself because she couldn’t reach the latch that you can’t see behind her hand. She was only raising her arm a little above her head. It made Marian and so both laugh when we helped her and had her raise her arm for real.
Lilly did makeup on Beth while I donated blood.
I had the tiniest rose bud bloom on one of my roses.
Lilly also did makeup on Ruth. They both looked way too old.
While Glen and Daryl hiked the girls and I worked on homework and played Twister and Beth took pictures of her hurt foot.
Morning walks don’t happen as often with a summer schedule but I made it on one this week. The goslings have grown up a lot.
Also this was the devotional this week for school and I thought it was really good. Elder Bednar is so great.

Just so everything is fully documented I also happen to know that your goes are growing up enough that glen would love to give them sold. They're still cute though.

I am SO GLAD the washing machine got fixed! You really get a testimony of working appliances when they break down. I'm pretty sure one of the best parts of my day will be when our refrigerator repair guy finally gets here this afternoon! And I'm glad you are done with your semester too. That has got to be an excellent sigh of relief.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
