“I think I am going to like that Herb.” March 7-12

I am giving myself a pat on the back for making it through this week with not to many major blunders. Running quite literally out of gas was the biggest one. There were so many good parts to even that,(thank heavens for helpful strangers and just the right down hill timing in to a gas station.) I hope I can remember them. Here is the good and everything else in between from the week.

Lucy got her learners permit and promptly jumped in the driver’s seat. She is doing all kinds of “terrifying “ things related to driving, which are really just normal things for seasoned drivers.

Ruth turned 9. Aunt Maridean made her a surprise cake that was a great big hit!

Kids playing together happily and not fighting or arguing.
A finished quilt
Janae hugging Larry with Josh and Cole talking to Janene.
After not eating or getting out of bed for days Evelyn slowly started to recover from her heart attack.
They like each other  when they aren’t mad at each other.
Ready for her last prom.
Lucy played in a big volleyball tournament where Uncle Neil was an official. That is Larry’s youngest brother.  It was fun to see him and that was a good learning tournament.
Josh (left) and Cole(right) eating at the end of the table.
A cute lap quilt I did for my cousin’s daughter. Her name is Grace.
Ruth turned 9. We celebrated with dinner from Iceberg, a surprise cake from Aunt Maridean, Superman ice cream and presents she was surprised to open.
Still recovering. Some days are better than others.
Daryl, Janae, Topher and Josh at dinner for Janene’s 80th birthday.

Lilly and Camron, headed to prom. Yes they went to prom last year together, and Sweethearts, just barely. They decided they are officially a couple.

So many wonderful things! Lilly looks so elegant off to prom with her guy. Their timing for becoming a couple is perfect! Ruth's cake is amazing. I'm very impressed with Aunt Meridean as I am with your quilting skills. You keep making these gorgeous quilts at a neck-breaking pace. Along with all the other things keeping you busy. I haven't seen Janae in so long it was also fun to get to see her and her boys in some of your pictures. The only one missing was you!

Wow. I found out very late that Evelyn had a heart attack. I love the pictures of prom. I super love the pictures of my dear aunt Janene and uncle Larry. I’m glad that nothing bad happened when you run out of gas. Other than the fact that you ran out of gas.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
