Onward, ever onward

It’s been another hot minute since I wrote anything here. Life is marching forward. June was a blur with end of school, graduation, and traveling. Lots of fun, lots of steps, lots of good food, very tiring.
Updates that may or may not be important-
Lucy is finally done with club volleyball season
Lilly broke up with Camron:(
Evelyn tap danced  on Death’s door step and then decided she didn’t want any to visit anymore and strolled away.
Glen started his new assignment at Herriman High.
I am not ready for school to start but tired from all the “fun” of summer.

Some things I have learned lately that seem important to write down.
-transparency and honestly are important and worth the effort.
-more communication is better than less.
-boundaries are a good thing and something that would probably be good for me to have more of.
-you never know how an experience you are having know might be helping to prepare you for something in the future.
-if you don’t give enough information your message can be lost in translation.
-Love will get things done better than fear or any other emotion.
-God is good and loving.

Here are some pictures from this week.
Summer Ruth- picture credit probably goes to Beth
Brandy came and had dinner with us last Sunday. She loves my parents dogs.

Evelyn just hanging out in bed, visiting. Evelyn is getting smaller ever so slowly. She is eating pretty good and not feeling as bad as she has at past low points, losing strength slowly but well enough to stop wearing briefs because why would she need them.

Another summer picture from Beth- Daryl in repair mode.

I gave Evelyn a bath on Friday after an embarrassing long amount of time since the last one. (Some battles are not worth fighting.) She felt like a new woman,  was so happy after it and starving.
Goob, in his summer scraggly cut. His home grooming experience got underway but before he was finished.
The part that most of my readers will be happiest about is to see these pictures. We hired Willa to take Richins family pictures for us today. It was so much fun. I hope Willa enjoyed it too.

Janene says we get family pictures when big things happen and this spring Mikayla graduated from the University of Utah with her double major bachelors degree and Lilly and Colton graduated from high school. I think we filled that quota.

I love this guy.

The guys

Three generations
Janae and kids

The rest of the pictures are from Beth and Ruth. They got tired of waiting for all the big people to stop chatting after we were done with pictures. They snagged my phone and did their own photo shoot. They did a good job.

Oh I loved every picture and word. I like how we are in the same place with our 9 year olds. Hopefully I'll be able to laugh at the grumpy faces a little more in a few years. They feel like a slog right now! Your report on Evelyn was wonderful, and I loved the sneak peeks of the family pictures! Willa had a great time too, and Janene called me just glowing about everyone just relaxing into the time together. What a happy evening with a glorious sunset as a backdrop.

You are learning such wonderful things, and you write about them beautifully! My favorite photo was the "three generations" of Janene, Janae, and Mikayla at sunset (with a sneaky view of Willa concentrating on her craft.) Hi to Glen -- it's rare to see a photo of him all on his own. You got a good one.

This was a truly glorious post! I guess you're making us wait until Christmas to see the pictures of your family, but I thought Ruth and Beth did a great job in their own little photo shoot too!! I can't believe how grown up everyone is! Janae's children have all outgrown her! The Evelyn story is full of twists and turns, isn't it! I loved it that she was starving after her bath so she had a little bit of banana and a glass of milk. I always call Ivy my strong bird, but I'm giving the title away for now to Evelyn!

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
