Looking back -week ending July 31

Here are things I remember from the week.
We came home from Idaho. The younger kids got an extra night, due to Jed coming down to catch a flight the next day.
We really like Reed’s Dairy. Their chocolate and huckleberry milk was so good as well as their ice cream.
After a 10 minute conversation with Glen, we have less grass and a very heavy duty fire pit in the back yard. It’s pretty cool.
Lilly went to plays at Hale Center Theater- Singing in the Rain and Silent Sky.
Lucy had her last open gym for volleyball before tryouts.
The kids and I were at Evelyn’s a lot. Marian and I are trying to figure out a better schedule. It’s still a work in progress.
Summer is fun and exhausting. I think we are squeezing all we can out of it. As much as I don’t think I am ready for a new school year; I am running out of steam for summer and keeping the kids engaged in something.
After months of planning to figure out when the most amount of people could meet, Glen’s high school friends got together at our house. It was great to see them again and catch up. They are all such good people.
For the sake of my mom and Evelyn’s relationship, I decided to get Evelyn on a better bath schedule.(it’s at least once every three weeks:/ I had to find a middle ground for the two parties) This week she even wanted her hair colored so she didn’t have to see that old woman that looked back at her in the mirror any more.

Kids playing Crossnet.
Glen’s friends from growing up and high school- The Peanut Gallery reunion-Brooke and Andy Desmond, Angie and Nate Skoubye, Keith and Andrea Hansen, Nate and Amber Elkins, Glen and me. Tony and Betty Nelson and Jeremy and Heidi Barton couldn’t make it.
Testing out the new fire pit.
Ruth, Enoch, Nate and Angie with the blaring sun.
Sunset on the Peanut Galley gathering.
Playing around with the bathtub letters while Evelyn had milk and cookies.
A tiny snake we found escaping to the grass from the driveway. Can you see it?
Evelyn got a bath and her hair colored. She felt at least ten years younger not having white hair.
Sister love and rough housing. They are going to miss her not being around as much.
Elise and Lacey, the little girls showing their matching chairs with Brooke and Andy in the background.
Lilly resting after playing at Rigby Lake in Idaho. All my other pictures are on film I haven’t developed yet.
The fairy garden on Jed and Jill’s front porch. Beth loved it.
More rough housing teasing sisters
Lucy really wanted a picture of this license plate it was -MYREDHD
This was emailed to me from Shutterfly as happening eleven years ago. It brought back good memories.

You guys went to a lake in Idaho too?! I liked seeing The Peanut Gallery pics. I imagine all those guys to be as good as Glen, which can't possibly be true. And the dear pictures of Evelyn. And the one of 11 years ago. My mom was hurting so much in those pictures! And is Janene's shirt the original vintage one?! That would be very impressive.

Also, your comment on summer--the whole small paragraph, I would like to echo and say AMEN to!

I was thinking about that photo last week, and my sister Heather said, “Oh poor mommy.” It’s funny that you would dig it up and post it again. Then, I noticed today how Heather’s hand was protectively encircling my mom. Everybody should have a daughter like that.

I got it this time! It sounds like Jed and Jill moved to Idaho? Also your weekly happening are so busy. Your life is full of such worthwhile things. I love it that you and Glen were able to get together with the peanut gallery :) what fun and the pictures were so great with sunsets! Loved the last pictures too. Makes me realize how long 10 years is! That must be Lilly or Lucy with Glen!

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
