A bushel and a peck and I’ll squeeze you all to heck

 Good things from this week-

Lilly coming home to do laundry and visit Monday night. Beth was so happy to see her, she willingly read her home reading book to her!

Visiting with Lilly, Tuesday morning and taking her back to her apartment when she missed the train.

Beth doing a great job reading  Green Eggs and Ham to me Wednesday night. It’s the longest book she has read so far. She was so excited she brought it home from Evelyn’s to read to Glen.

Evelyn having good awake times and enjoying the amaryllis my mom brought in to her room.

Lucy making cinnamon rolls for a teacher and her class at school to pay her back for helping her out. Since she was making them she made two batches because there were so many people she wanted to giving them too.  They were well received.

Glen, he’s pretty much the best.

Daryl getting a Bop It game. He bought it with his own money. He loves it; I am trying to like it and not be annoyed by it.

Not so good things were -

hurting my knee playing volleyball.

My kids thinking their life is so hard when they get asked to do things they don’t want to do. They don’t know how good they have it. I don’t know how good I have it.

Beth so happy with her accomplishment
Books, Ruth has written and illustrated
Lilly working her magic
Daryl making pancakes to test out the new griddle.
Daryl predicting what he will look like and be like as an old man.
Reds and Dreads Marian, Ali, me, Lucy
We tie died our shirts and customized them. They say Red #1,  Red #2, Red #3, Dread and Coach for Derek.
Tom Sawyer and Evelyn have been good friends this week.
A different version of Daryl as an old man.

Oh, I love you! You are so full of goodness. I love every word and picture, but my two favorites this time were the big sister magic because we had that on our trip to Mexico, and the volleyball pictures. I am so sorry you got hurt, but you GOT TO PLAY SAND VOLLEYBALL! In adorable team shirts with people you love! Those pictures looked like joy to me.

My comment disappeared on me. I will try again. Having Ruth write little books and illustrate them give me warm gushy happy feelings. Tell her I’m impressed. I also love the name you chose for your volleyball team. I hope your injury heals soon. Is it the type you put ice on and wait for your body to recover, or is that the type you get surgery for?

Oooh, I'm so sorry about your knee. I want to be friends with Daryl. What a fun kid! And he makes pancakes? So much to love about Lilly's magic. Your words were so powerful about your kids not knowing what they have. It's true. We all don't recognize it all. There is a lot of grace out there!!

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
