Right here, right how

Here is a little update on us right now.
Lilly- finished up her second semester of college, has gone on a couple more dates/ hang outs with guys she use to work with at Walmart. Is trying to figure out what to do with all her time now school is out and she is unemployed. Talking about a mission or teaching English abroad. Comes home to do laundry so we get to see her almost weekly!

Lucy- is grinding out the last month of her sophomore year academically, mostly APEuro which she decided, “The test is not for me.”
Playing as much volleyball as she can between open gym at the high school and club practice, enjoying the dog daycare job she has. Went to MORP with a kid, Walker, who she didn’t really know but was friends with the dates of her friends in her group. It was fun but she was not impressed. She may have compared his IQ to a potato which is a risk you take with sophomore boys.

Daryl- is finishing up 6th grade with ease, just finished his last week of safety patrol, is growing his hair out till we go to Lake Powell, likes going on bike rides around the neighborhood, enjoys drives with Glen to explore Utah, is keeping his room pretty tidy lately which his mother appreciates, likes being on time if not early to things enjoys baking and is going to start cooking more than desserts.

Ruth- prefers sleeping on the floor in her room rather than the top bunk, loves going to the library and usually walks there daily, likes having a cd Walkman to listen to books on, is getting Grandma Richins to read the books she likes,  needs some books that are more challenging than the ones she is currently reading,  keeps complaining of stomach pain that comes and goes, is doing nice things for her siblings that surprise me all the time amidst the struggles with them. Likes to hop the fence to get to school instead of walking all the way around.

Beth- does cartwheels and round offs all the time, as well as back bend kick overs, but doesn’t want to take gymnastics again. Does not love homework but is getting better at doing it, loves her teacher and wishes she could have her again next year, keeps losing teeth, improving her reading skills all the time,  gives me hugs when I am weepy.

Glen- enjoying having a little more time on his hands at work thanks to some bigger projects being done and kids behaving,  is getting his yard work groove on, keeps praying for cool weather or rain to help kids focus and keep their hormones in check for the rest of the school year, wishes there was less of a retaliation/ get even mindset in our world.

Kayci- is working on adjusting to this new phase of life, is quilting more and just finished a big custom quilted quilt, tends to be weepy often,  is finding serving in places that use to fill me up currently zap a lot of my energy in this point of the grieving process, is recognizing what a big blessing it was for Evelyn and Roberta to get to live out their lives in the way that they did and die in the place they wanted and how cool it was to be able to be a part of that.

Lucy and Walker as Scooby Doo and Shaggy
Lucy’s sacrament meeting sketch today, President Curtis from the stake presidency and Brother Draney second counselor in our bishopric.

Spring is in full bloom all around us .
Some of the bulbs showing off in Roberta’s flower garden

My view on a walk we took this week. It was a very pleasant night but Beth and Ruth bundled up like it was freezing.
Beth made it home and melted on to the drive way. I made our walk a little longer than she wanted.
The quilt, I just finished quilting for my aunt. She did all the cross stitch work on it. I am so glad to have it done.
Lucy ready to head out as Scooby Doo to MORP

Sunday dinner visiting just before we headed home.

Grandma teasing Beth and making sure all her joints are wiggly enough.

Here is a Truth the bears repeating. Thank you for pointing it out.

“ She may have compared his IQ to a potato which is a risk you take with sophomore boys. ”

Yes! The line Paige quoted was a great one. I loved the updates on each person. You are doing things right! And they are hard and good. Your youngest two are definitely related to my youngest two. And I am jealous of you getting to hang out with my aunt on the regular. Also, Glen is so very good. I love hearing about him and your life with him. You are that good too.

Sounds like Lilly is considering some fun things! Missions and going abroad are life enriching and can be very life altering. Kids are being good at Glen's school? How? Things are devolving quickly around these parts! Your quilt is so beautiful. The cross stitching is amazing on it!! I can't believe the hours you must have put into that one. Your walk with your two youngest sounds delightful and like real life too. I never get it completely right for my kids (ha ha!)

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
