In a matter of moments

Here are some pictures of a few good things from the past week.

We have had some pretty sunsets and sunrises lately. Ruth or Beth took the picture.

It was senior night for Lucy’s high school volleyball team. I offered to make blankets for the seniors. I almost got them done in time but not quite. Me and my time management skills.  (Palm to forehead moment)
Aside for not finishing my part completely, it was a nice night for the girls! It’s crazy to think it will be Lucy’s turn next year.

Speaking of Lucy, we got to celebrate her 17th birthday on Friday! She is a great gal, who is kind, compassionate, caring, strong, smart and so much more.

Saturday, we went to visit my dad at the hospital. Jed’s family came down for Mark’s lacrosse tournament and we got to have the four youngest boys for most of the day. I took a whole carful of grandkids to see him. We didn’t want to overwhelm him, so we went in to his room in two groups. We are glad he is out of the ICU so all the grandkids can visit now.
Mason drew a picture of Grandpa on the doodle board they have him use to practice writing. Other grandkids took turns as well, I only got a picture of Mason’s art though.

We left the hospital with the sun going down, grateful to be able to visit and still praying for more healing and recovery.
We are grateful for all the nurses, doctors, aides, technicians and therapist who have worked with and are working with Dad to help him get better.

I am concerned about your dad. Why is he in the hospital? And I was shocked to hear it was Lucy's senior night--and relieved for you when I figured out it is still a year away. The blankets are beautiful! What an amazing gift! You do so much good. I think you manage your time amazingly well and accomplish a great amount of good. I think you should grant yourself plenty of rest and relaxation too. I'm trying to learn that too.

Beautiful sunset! Thank you to children who appreciate beauty. Oh, no! I had no idea your dad has been in the hospital. What happened? So good of you to bring loving grandchildren for a visit - in smallish groups :) You are amazing to provide such beautiful senior gifts for the volleyball seniors. Lucky girls! Happy 17th to Lucy!

I am such a dud! A month? That is so subpar. Sorry, my friend, and I will try to do better.

In one of these photos, Lucy has a smile like her aunt Janae. That was hilarious to see. I am sure rooting for your dad and all the doctors and all the nurses who work with him. I think you and your siblings are a huge benefit as well. Thank you for all you do to help him get better! You are great.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
