Cheers to 50 years

Almost exactly one month after their actual 50th anniversary, we celebrated Larry and Janene's grand accomplishment with friends and family.  Except for the top three pictures from my phone blogger loaded the pictures backwards. The party started out inside and then moved outside where it was originally planned. It all worked out and was great! I knew it would be a hard weekend competing with the fourth of July holiday and the short notice that I gave. Let's just say plans in my head don't always happen in real life the same way. All is well. The party was great and Larry and Janene really enjoyed and appreciated it. Pictures were taken by Kayci, Ruth and Beth at least.
I don't remember this lady's name but her and Janene went to school together in Show Low.
Aunt Patty's family was represented and those missing were thought of. Uncle Fred and Marj also came!
Marva Porter made this card.
It says-Dear SweetTarts, Look who's had good & plenty years together. 50. Congrats! Just Twix us, today is your Payday. It was a big Skor when you found each other (Sugar Daddy and Hot Tamale) It's been a Joy-ful journey. 50 years! There may have been a Crunch or 2 through the years, but no long Rocky Road. You're teachers! You've molded and affected your share of Airheads, Nerds and Butterfingers. But your greatest Good was your Sugar Babies. Worth far more than 100 Grand, Baby#1 was "practically perfect" and Whatchamacallit #2 turned out to be a BIG HUNK! We feel Joy in celebrating with you today. No SNICKERS from us! We're family and we love you! Mounds of love! Your Joe City Cousins- Porter 3 Musketeers-  Marva, Minnie Jane and John Leyland and Diann and  The Bushmans on Porter Avenue -Marilyn and Ren Fairbanks, Janet and Larry Pedersen, and LaVar and Vina Bushman

Only one question mark on the names? You are incredible! Wow! What a great party. Thank you for sharing the pictures! It really makes me feel more a part of it. How neat to have so many wonderful people sharing a great occasion together. You take on big things and do them beautifully.

What a fun party! Thank you for thinking of us while you were doing it. That was truly amazing. And thank you for blogging pictures of the rest of it too!

I'm so glad this happened! Everybody looks relaxed and happy. You did a great job! I'm surely glad that the Richins couple found each other. It was particularly good that you just wrote out the Kandy poster. Zooming in wouldn't have helped. Those candy bars tend to overshadow quite a lot. It was the perfect sentiment, though.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
