In like a lion

March showed up with snow and cold. Luckily it warmed up and melted in a day or two and showed signs of spring actually coming before it cooled of and rained at the end of the week.
It was a bit of a rough week. There is a lot going on and things didn’t really go as I planned the first couple days this week and I didn’t handle it well. I was not as nice to my most important people as I could have been. It took most of the week to work through it. It has left a not great feel on the week.
The bright spots seem more worth remembering. They are-

  • Beth telling her cousin, “ Well guess what? Me and my mom are best buds so there.”
  • My neighbor bringing over the favor from the Relief Society activity I was suppose to take a salad too and attended but didn’t have a salad ready when it was time for it and I decided I just really needed to be home.
  • Evelyn’s nurse, Arla. She’s just a great person and loves Evelyn with alll her quirks. She helps us out so much with her visits twice a week.
  • Egbert family pictures. The weather, Evelyn and all the children cooperated. It was great to be together and I am excited to see how they turn out.
  • Glen taking Lucy to her volleyball tournament. He probably got the easy part because I had all the other kids. It made it so we could do some cleaning and then the kids could play with cousins and I could work on a costume for the play Lilly is in. Plus Lucy’s team won the tournament!
  • Having my mom and all my brother’s kids with us at church today. We were a bit of a spectacle with 12 children between 15-2 and only three adults but it was fun and some great cousin time. Thank heavens for the late church time on daylight savings day with that many kids to get ready.
  • Having family and cousins near by to play with and spend time with and help with and just share life with.
And now too many pictures  but some fun behind the scenes of family pictures for sure.

Beth helping Evelyn this week.

I forgot Lucy got to job shadow my sister Ali for 7th grade job shadow day. It was really great of her to do. I think they both had a good time.  The picture was to make sure the shirt would work for the day.

Silly kids making faces on Evelyn’s nanny cams
My dad and brothers in their dress uniforms. From top to bottom serious, happy and silly

Evelyn not wanting her picture with the men in uniform because she was in her pajamas
(but just half way)

I convinced her it would be okay

Your blog brings tears to my eyes regularly. You do so much with so much goodness. My favorites were your first two bright spots. Isn't it great to have a best bud at home even when you feel like you have been messing up? And the RS activity. I felt that. And your dear friend who was thinking of you when you didn't make it. And also all the grandkids except for the one in heaven! And Evelyn and the military men. I just loved it all!

Your family is blessed you're with them. The only person more camera shy than Evelyn is you. The only person more camera shy than you is Glen. Good thing your kids are so cute! They fill in gaps beautifully.

Often the behind-the-scenes family pictures are my very favorites.

L is for the way...

I watched this video and it sealed the deal on this post. I have all sorts of things I could write about, but this has been at the front of my mind for a while. I have really been affected this past year by the divorces of two different couples I know. Not that, I haven't known any one before that has gotten divorced. These have just hit closer to home. One of them is Glen's boss, and Glen has worked with him lately. (This is not the norm. He can go months with out seeing him. He just goes in to work, sees what he's doing that night and goes out.) In working with him, they have talked about stuff and something he said to Glen has really made me think. I wasn't there but it was something to the extent of, "You guys are so lucky, because you love each other, just really love each other." My first thought to this was- yes, yes we do. Then I thought how sad that he and not every married couple have that. The just of all of this rambling is that I love my ...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
