What happened this week?

The most impressive recent thing from this week was from church. A lady in our ward, Cassie (standing next to the piano player) is part of an acapella group (even though this is not acapella) and they sang in sacrament meeting. As Glen said, " That was impressive!"  Lucky for you they have a video of them singing it which is just about as good!  The rest of sacrament meeting was really good too. My visiting teacher Rachel talked about Mary and the birth process, customs of the time and things along those lines. It was really good reminder to continue to watch for miracles and to not doubt them.  Then the man who spoke basically read Elder Bednar's 2015 Christmas devotional talk. It was really good. During Sunday school I went with Glen to the teacher council meeting where a lot of great things were talked about in preparation for the new curriculum for priesthood and relief society. The best part was seeing my husbands eyes light up when  giving comments and heari...

Jesse Cole Egbert

Jesse Cole Egbert 1983 ~ 2017 The world became a little less bright on Tuesday October 17, 2017, as Jesse left us far too soon from injuries due to a fall at work. He was born to Aaron and Kristine Thomas Egbert on January 19, 1983. Jesse loved family. He was fun, genuine, stubborn, incredibly handsome, and had a tender heart. Jesse loved everyone, especially children. He loved being called "Uncle Jesse". He loved the family farm, the outdoors, and was very athletic. At a young age he developed a strong work ethic, working alongside his dad and brother in masonry. Jesse also had a very special bond with his Mom. At the time of his passing, he worked for Necaise & Son Masonry. They were truly family to him. Jesse married his high school sweetheart, Jodie McIntyre (later divorced). Together they had a beautiful son, Cole, who he loved very much. Despite his earthly challenges, Jesse was strong and fought hard. He was a friend to all, and touched countless lives....

Festival of Trees 2017

My kids in front of Dylan's tree  The tree with out the kids in front of it.  I quilted this quilt. I didn't piece it together. just the quilting part The gingerbread creation we did in honor of Dylan. The cousins got very in to helping make the animals for it which was very neat. A unique tree that I liked. I think it is a cool idea for pictures but I would have a hard time parting with all those old family pictures. more to come

my children

For #lighttheworld today you are suppose to do something nice for your children and spend time with them. I don't know if i succeed. I mean I was with them and did stuff for and with them but not exactly the stuff I think they were wanting. I decided that I would highlight a few fun things about each of them. They help light my world. They are the best and hardest all at the same time. Most days I am sure I am just giving them good fuel for counseling later in life because of all of my parenting mistakes. Fortunately for me they still love me and haven't convinced Glen to find a new mom for them even when I am at my worst.   Ruth would really like to be bigger and older than she is and an only child or at least the oldest child. She comforts herself by playing with hair. mostly mine. She is very needy. She might also aspire to be a barber and started practicing her skills a little too early for my liking. Good thing hair grows. She has already decided who she is marrying a...

Nope, We haven't passed that phase of life

There are things that keep happening in life that for some reason I think shouldn't. I think we have done that so we don't need to do it again. Alas I am wrong.  Last week I had made the little girls sandwiches and then decided they would be okay if I went down to work on something in the basement. I was working away and things were rather quiet upstairs. That should have been my clue.  I was probably carried away with my project and more time than I know past, when Ruth came down stairs and said, "Mom, what's different about me?" (I started laughing because it is usually better than crying.)  This was the worst part. Ruth was kind enough to give Beth her first haircut. My kids don't grow hair quickly and don't come with a lot at birth. Beth was just starting to look more little girlish and we could put a ponytail on top if we tried hard. Not anymore. :(   This was the scene of the crime/beauty salon. Pajama pants were also par...

Remembering the good

I am trying to be more grateful, thankful, happy, positive and see heaven's help in my life more often. It doesn't come as easy to me as it once did. I have gotten really good at beating myself up and though I didn't notice it initially, it has changed how I treat and think about others as well. I have had a particularly difficult couple days. Mostly of my own doing or inflicting and I will blame hormones too. I was thinking back on this week wondering what even happened and if any of it was good. I realized there was so much good that I had forgotten in my days of orneriness and even in those days there was good too. I just need to remember. It reminded me about a post from Kirsta quite awhile ago where she talked about remembering. It was a good one. So here are some of the good things from the week and hopefully some random pictures.  I am on the hospitality committee (that means me and my neighbor) for the elementary school which provides dinner one night of paren...
