In over my head

The school year hasn't started quite yet and I am feeling like I am going to need to be on my "A game" all the time. Here are a few things on my plate-  wife,  mom to 5,  part time care taker of a 92 year old and a 100 year old, personal progress advisor,  co treasurer for the elementary PTA... as long as they find the other co...,  trying to lose some weight, trying to keep up on the house,  scheduling people to work on the house projects we have going, Assistant 4-H leader...  I was thinking their was more but can't think of any more right now.  We are going to be at four different schools with morning kindergarten everyday and afternoon preschool two days a week, on the schedule.  Glen's new job demands are going to hit pretty hard in the next week or two and who knows what that will bring. I have heard the winter months especially December are the worst.   I have been trying to scheme ways to see him more aside from the whole family ...

Beth at 9 months

Our baby Bethany is nine months old. She is crawling and climbing everywhere. I usually am her favorite thing to climb. In the last week or two her bottom two front teeth have cut through so her all gummy smile will be going away. I think her top teeth are working on coming too because she has had a fever mostly the past week and been a bit of a monster. ... Okay she has been a monster with me around. If I am out of sight she is pretty much perfect. It's a rather tiring and patience testing phase.  Friday we go to her check up to find out her stats. Everyone tells me she is so small and that may be. She likes to eat and is really wanting to feed herself real food these days. She likes nursing a lot right now but gets distracted easy. She also likes to do something with her hands at the same time, which currently is scratching and pinching my chest. Those dang razor sharp baby nails.  Mostly Beth has just always wanted to go and do the things all the big people around her are d...

Plan B

Spoiler- We got a dog. I broke down and said yes to calling about a different dog. We didn't end up with that one but saying yes to one apparently meant yes to any dog. So we have Gunner.  He is almost 2 years old and an English pointer boxer mix. He is well trained and lots of fun. He is still all the work and everything I expected a dog to be but being past the the puppy stage has been so good!  Below is the longer story of how we came to get him. - it will probably take awhile for me to finish typing it out.  Our kids have wanted a dog for a long time. Like really long time. It feels like years and probably has been.  I have been super hesitant to get one though. They are a lot of work and can cost a lot and then the whole puppy thing.  After Neve died, I knewn if... really when we got another dog we needed to do it differently. It would have to be an inside/outside dog at the least and need to have good manners and training.

Keep trying

I am going to keep trying this blog thing. Even unfinished posts will probably make it up just to get something up! (It was Heather's brilliant idea!) So where do I start? This summer has been good but hard. As you might have guessed from my lack of posts five kids and everything else is pretty much kicking my tail end.   I thought it might be easier to have all the kids home but not so much. It's just more bodies to move and motivate. Ugh.  Let's talk about Glen. He got appointed as a vice principal at Riverton High school. It will be really good but is a big change.  We were all excited for him to teach Lilly in the fall. This past year has been his best year ever teaching. He had basically been handed a summer teaching job at the alternative high school for a session, which he was excited about.(A way to do what he loves more of the year.) He was even considering having his name taken from the pool for admin. Then pretty much out of the blue, after not having an i...
