Richins

 I have really given up social media except for my blog and an occasional Marco Polo, which I don’t think counts. My life is just better with out it. This is my attempt to post everyday things I am thankful for. It may include things other family members are grateful for on some days as well.  Today is my birthday so I am especially thankful for my life. I have wonderful parents and excellent in-laws and a most fabulous husband and pretty great kids.  Glen took the day off work to help me with some projects at the Villa, which is the place I quilt. After not being around him for 10 days it was the perfect present. I know it was a sacrifice for him because he loves his routine. The kids took care of themselves and didn’t call with any problems.  I got birthday wishes from all of my siblings. They are some of my favorite people!  I have a good life. I get to work doing things I really enjoy. I have flexibility to help at my kids schools like I like too. My health ...

This week has been full of changes due to Utah’s very high COVID numbers. The governor has given new rules for the next few weeks to try to decrease the numbers.  Lilly and Lucy’s schools have both transitioned to virtual learning until after Thanksgiving.  It’s been a week of working hard to make regular life happen with the various tasks we have and then me starting to get sick. Too bad mom’s don’t get a free pass on being sick.   There are so many ways to feel down and discouraged but I want to remember the good and the good people in our lives and from this week. Evelyn- She fell this week. Fortunately she didn’t get anything more than a bruised bum. She thinks neither heaven nor hell want her because she is too much trouble, which is why she is stuck here. I don't agree. She is good and fun and doing the best she can being a month and a half from 97. Lilly's math teacher- Mr. Murphy- He stays late to help his students who need extra help. Not just an hour but several...

We are a week in to November. Only one full month left in this crazy year. The election happened and we finally have a result for the next President. Nothing too crazy has happened associated with the winner being announced. Hopefully it stays that way. Political campaigning is over for a little bit. Wahoo! Utah still has a congress seat that hasn't been decided  yet. Utah's COVID numbers have jumped to an average of 2,300 positive tests a day for the last few days. There are rumors of school going online between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am hoping elementary schools get to stay in person, since they have had the fewest cases and problems.  Amid all this there has been a whole lot of regular life going on at our house.  Some notable happenings and blessings from the week are- We were able to by John Ladd’s Tacoma before they left for Italy.  Halloween was different this year but we definitely celebrated and took a lot of pictures. I will let the pictures do most of the talking. 

 Lucy turned fourteen last week.  She is our favorite fourteen year old.  She is a no fuss kind of gal.  She quietly goes about doing what she is supposed to do and other good things.  She is a great student. She’s very proactive and stays on top of her work. She loves volleyball and is always ready to play.  She is smart with her money but also generous.  She is a great babysitter.  She loves dogs and reading books with dogs in them or that are about dogs.  She’s funny and crafty and artistic.  She’s probably Aunt Janae’s niece. She know what she wants and likes but is nice about it.  She has a lot of patience with her younger siblings.  She is a hair braiding wizard. When you see her hair braided it is 9/10 done by her.  She is just an all around good daughter, sister and friend that we are really happy to have in our family. 

It’s been a few weeks. Life is moving right along. Let’s see what I can remember.  Lucy turned 14. She gets her own post!  Cousin sleep overs My mom started the Grandma club for the older grand kids. I think they liked it.  We learned about camp fire eclairs. They are yummy and our new favorite treat.  Glen and Daryl put the fence and gate in on the east side of the yard. The kids and Glen has fall break from school. I have been doing a bunch of quilting. School for me is good. It’s challenging and seems like one more thing at times. I am learning a lot and feel like I am getting some added help to make it and everything else happen. I enrolled in BYU-Pathway worldwide.  The weekly devotionals that go along with school seem to have just the message I need to hear each week.  Lucy had a good season of middle school league volleyball.  We bought John’s truck for a kid/third car.
