40

It's Paige's birthday today. We had planned on hiking in the Grand Canyon together today with some other family members. Some things came up and we realized earlier this week that it would be better if we just managed normal like and put the adventure on hold. My adventurous side is crying about this but the rest of me knows it is still on the calendar but is just TBA-to be announced.   I need to celebrate how great she is so I have come up with a list of qualities, traits, and goodness that I know of in her and hopefully  I will reach her age with how many I have!  So in no particular order She is fun. She like yellow. She loves to hike. She loves her husband. She is adventurous. She supports her husband. She loves her kids. She enjoys teenagers, in particularly hers. She loves the scriptures. She is happy.  She has the same cool eyebrow that Glen does. Her hair looks good long or short. She writes well. She pursues her dreams....

Heather

I married in to a great family. Not only do I have good in-laws but the extended family of in-laws is great too. So today is Glen's cousin's, Heather's birthday! She is great! I have been thinking about her and wishing her good things today.  As I have been thinking about her. This picture popped in to my head. I snapped it with my phone last year when I was at Women's Conference with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Heather happened to be there too. She had come to town to visit her in-laws, go to the conference with any of them that would and celebrate her mother-in-law's birthday, if I remember right.  The really cool part was that we didn't really know if she was going to be there or not but had the idea that she would be. It was when my sister-in-law was going through a really ruff time and needed all the love and encouragement she could get. As it happened we miraculously saw her and she took time away from the family she was with to visit with he...

Uncontrolable goal

There is a story I have heard from Glen's side of the family about his cousin, Paige. The just of it is, one of her teachers when she was in middle school ( I think.) ask her class to write their goals for the year and one of her goals among others was that her great grandma would live to be one hundred years old. She was ninety nine at the time, I think.  And you know she had no control over it and in fact if memory serves me right Grandma didn't make the goal. It makes for a fun story though and I am sure it would be better if I remembered more of the details and the reasoning because I know there was a good reason but it serves a a good start to my story.     Have I mentioned my sister is getting married? She is. FINALLY. Well I have a goal right now that is a lot like Paige's. Don't worry this all comes together My sister is getting g married in less than a month and my goal is for Evelyn and Roberta to live to her wedding.  This may sound lik...

Grown up

I gave Daryl his first haircut today. I started out just trimming the sides as shown in the first two photos. Lucy egged me on in fact she wanted a turn with the clippers. I didn't let her. Daryl did really good once I had him sitting in my lap. I had to hold his arms down till I started trimming. Once I started he just sat and let me do it. After I stopped though he wanted nothing to do with the clippers. He was very willing to help put them away.  Also if you notice he's not in his highchair while he is eating breakfast. He thinks he's big like everyone else, and I wasn't willing to fight him on it this morning. The good part is he was much cleaner out of the highchair than he usually is in, at least this morning.   I decided that the top looked funny long. He ended up with a buzz and looks like he could almost join a military branch. Hopefully not for a few years though if that is the route he wants to go. The last picture he was saying "dheese" in...

Roar

Yesterday we went to the library and came home with a bunch of books. After our family home evening Daryl grabbed a dinosaur book and backed himself in to Glen to have him read it. It was so cute. Daryl liked it so much he insisted it be read a few more times. Glen had us all captivated.

Our Ice Cream Parlor

We have finally painted walls in the basement. Glen is a trooper and let me choose the colors. Hehehe! I tried not to go too crazy, but I do like color.  Foaming, sneeze weed, summer squash, south castle, copper cornice and white for the trim is what I went with. I guess  Lucy helped pick summer squash. Now that they are all on the walls Glen made the comment that the basement is like an ice cream parlor  Vanilla and mint or south castle and copper cornice are in the family room, above and below.  A bad picture of the bubble gum or foaming in the laundry room, above and below summer squash or orange sherbet in Daryl's room. It seems sunnier in real life. Glen also compared it to a sunset.  Above south castle/ vanilla in the master bedroom and hallway that leads to the bathroom, walk in closet and laundry room. Below, lime sherbet or sneeze weed in the storage room. I know storage rooms are usually white but I couldn't do it.  Glen isn't a...
