My First Shakespeare Festival

A few weeks ago over a long weekend that the schools get Glen and I ran away. We went to Cedar City to a play at the Shakespeare Festival in it's fall season. It was really fun to see the campus of SUU. My brother went there and I have been around the city a bit but never to the campus.

I have to admit Glen's family has gone to the Shakespeare Festival for a long time, and his parents have talked about taking us but I have been hesitant. I like plays but I am not a huge Shakespeare fan or English buff so I really have resisted the idea. I think it is because I feel uneducated and inept in English and writing things since becoming a Richins. They after all are a family of teachers with English being the subject of choice for the ladies. I struggle with the proper usage of certain words and various grammatical things and I have been corrected enough to make myself so conscientious about them that I don't use the words anymore. Sorry for the rant I'll bite my tounge and save that for another day. And don't worry it is mostly by my husband.

With that being said, Larry and Janene are really the one's that got the idea in my head. They went down to visit with Janene's siblings at a favorite restaurant before this and while in Cedar City took the time to see Tuesdays with Morrie. They came home and said it was wonderful and brought Janene to tears, so my interests were peaked. (Not because of the tears part.)

Glen and I had read the book and really enjoyed it. So we arranged for the kids to be taken care of and headed south. We saw Tuesdays with Morrie. It was well done. The actors did a solid job Morrie was really convincing with the progression of his disease but it did feel like Mitch was yelling at his old professor. I don't know if this was because of the possibility that he didn't have a mic or what. It was a good first play for me being something I was familiar with and not to deep. I liked it enough to made me think that since Lilly could actually go to a play next year we might try the summer season!
As a disclaimer I really like the book much better and would recommend - Tuesday's with Morrie by Mitch Albom.

July 15-19  Early Monday morning we went to the Provo airport to head to John Wayne airport then down to San Diego to celebrate Larry and Janene's 50th wedding anniversary. We met up with everyone but Josh and his girlfriend, Amberlee in Provo. They left earlier and drove so they could visit her family as well. My dad is a bit John Wayne fan so we had to take a picture with The Duke at his airport for him.  Once we had our luggage, rental van and food in our bellies we had to get sand between our toes and salt water at least on our feet. My cup with blessings overflows

 I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...
