randomness

It's Saturday and I should be cleaning my house, but I not. One of my goals for the year is/was to get organized and be cleaner. It isn't going so well.

The girls had a sleep over at my sister's last night and Lucy is still napping to recover from it. My sister is so nice. Lucy has said a few times that she wanted to have a sleepover with Nitra, who happens to be a dog. I thought it was funny and told my sister. She made it happen. It sounds like they had a good time. Lilly said they got to jump off of the back of the couch and jump on and off the couch on to the love sac and then on to the bed that had been brought in to the room.

I play basketball on Wednesday nights with a group of ladies. My other sister that lives in the land of snow and cold was visiting and she consented to come play too! It was lots of fun! We almost had our own team with my two sisters, a sister-in-law and me there. It was one of the highlights of my week!

For a while now we have listened to books on tape or c.d. while the girls and I are going places in the van. It has been a good thing, granted I am not completely up to date on my current events and ages behind on the newest music. It has added to the girls imagination. I'll give an example. We listened to The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White. For the next few weeks the girls would run around playing Sarina and Louie saying,"Kohooa, kohooa, kohooa."(that is suppose to be the swan's noise)

Lilly just had her reading tested and moved up to level J. She's just a little a head of the kindergarten pack.

Lucy currently is not a fan of kisses. She will hug and snuggle all I want but gets very upset when she gets kissed and wipes it off while she scowls at you. I also think she rules the house most days. She seems to have a mind of her own, with a VERY strong opinion of her own too. My parents and Glen's parents take no claim for that for some reason. They say," That never came from our side!"

Our suburban currently has Glen stumped. Last Saturday he went to start it and move it, so he could evict some of the birds that call under our carport home, but it only clicked at him. It wouldn't budge. He has tried the starter, the battery and various other things but to no avail. I guess we'll have to actually get it to a shop.

Lastly, I am going to try to start seeds for my garden this year so I don't have to buy so many plants. It should be interesting. Hopefully I don't fry them like I did last year.

Does Glen's dad still have grow lights? He'd let you borrow them -- maybe that's a done deal already. I have three childhood memories of Uncle Larry and seed catalogs. All three are good memories too.

i really had fun playing basketball, although i look like i was attacked due to all the bruises i now have and my lungs also felt a very intense burn they haven't felt for sometime now so that was also good. but it was super fun i will admit. hopefully i'll be able to come visit more since we now have a care that isn't mostly dead. i'm also glad to here your girls, ali, derek and the dogs all survived the sleepover. Oh i also think you need to see the movie food inc. it is very interesting.

E.B. White should be a big part of everyone's childhood. Did you listen to the version of him reading it? Books on tape are the best.

Good luck with those seeds. Let us know how it turns out!

California here we come

July 15-19  Early Monday morning we went to the Provo airport to head to John Wayne airport then down to San Diego to celebrate Larry and Janene's 50th wedding anniversary. We met up with everyone but Josh and his girlfriend, Amberlee in Provo. They left earlier and drove so they could visit her family as well. My dad is a bit John Wayne fan so we had to take a picture with The Duke at his airport for him.  Once we had our luggage, rental van and food in our bellies we had to get sand between our toes and salt water at least on our feet. We ate at a fun little place in San Clemente called Cafe Rae. It was really little. Our group of nine took up about half their seats. It was really good food and they had great hospitality.  Our next stop was the USS Midway in San Diego. Larry had talked about visiting this and the Saint Mary for a long time. It was one of the main reasons we went to San Diego. It was nice to make it happen. I am not really in to military stuff but it was...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Conversations with Lucy

Lucy-" Mom, Do you know what you can't do?" Mom-"No, what?" Lucy-" You can't put root beer in the microwave. You can't put it in the microwave or else it will explode." Mom- " Is that right?" Lucy- " Yeah, and do you know what else you can't do, you can't put candy in the microwave or else it will explode too. Yeah!"
