Quarantine and 39

Sunday the 13th Lilly woke up with a whole bunch of active COVID -19 symptoms. Luckily all mild and not the breathing trouble ones. After some debating and online research I took her to be tested in the afternoon.  We came home and she rested and isolated in the bedroom she shares with Lucy. Lucy got what she needed out of her room and moved in to the family room downstairs on our extra mattress. 

Everyone but Lilly went to school and work on Monday because we didn’t have a test result back.  From all the information Glen had from work that was an okay thing to do since we were potentially just exposed. Glen also found out that if Lilly would have been at school Monday, she would have been ask to go home to quarantine because she had been exposed by sitting with in six feet of someone who tested positive for COVID-19 in one of her classes. 

Late Monday night I checked online and found Lilly’s results. Positive. 

Tuesday, we started contacting teachers and people that would need to know we wouldn’t be going anywhere. We also started getting called by health care workers to let us know Lilly’s results. 

We needed a lot of groceries. I had been putting off a Costco run. After making a very long list Glen and I made as quick of a run as we could to Costco and Peterson’s, our local grocery store to stock up for two weeks. That seemed like a better idea than making someone else get all the things we needed. It was a lot and a lot of money. 

It’s been an interesting week. 

Glen has mostly taken over the office for his office to work from. Lilly has mostly been in her room resting and working on school so she doesn’t expose us again.

When she is out by us she has to wear a mask and try to stay six feet away from us and not be around us longer than 15 minutes. Lucy, Daryl and Ruth have all been doing what school they can online. 

Beth has been the most bent out of shape by this. She was suppose to start preschool Tuesday.  She woke up Wednesday and told me, "We needed to just stop this quarantine right now. Just RIGHT NOW."  She also had a play date she was really looking forward too that got postponed. It’s been rough for her. 

While none of us were hoping for this quarantine there has been so much goodness offered to us and goodness sent our way. Many calls or texts to check in on us and make sure we are doing okay. 

A week day never went by that I didn’t get a call or text from someone asking if they could pick up something we might needed. 

Everyone has gotten along well for the most part. 

My mom, sister, Ali, aunts and cousins have filled in for me with Evelyn. Marian was on vacation this week.

Glen's co worker dropped stuff off to him he needed from his office.

Lilly's friend has dropped things off -ice cream and soap. She has also brought her little sister to visit the goats and will chat with Lilly from the other side of the fence. 

Larry picked up a prescription for Gunner I forgot about. He got it filled and brought the medicine back. 

In the time line of exposure and symptoms Larry and Janene and Paige didn’t have to quarantine for coming to Daryl’s birthday celebration. 

Technology has made it so Glen can do most of his work from home; everything is very email heavy.

Glen and I have been able to go on a few walks.

The fridge got cleaned out and is so nice to look at now.

My aunt in Virginia is sending us pizza for dinner.

There have been paper airplane flights in to the ceiling fan to see if we can get them stuck in it or make it though with out hitting it.

Sneaky ice cream eating in the office. It's okay though it was his birthday. 

We celebrated it as much as he let’s us. We had chili verde enchiladas for dinner and brownies and left over peanut butter chocolate cake I made the night before, and ice cream.  I gave him his favorite kind of ice cream and told him when we are out of quarantine to go buy metal so he can make cool stuff with his welder. He also ordered himself new shoes for work.

Daryl and I went on a long bike ride that ended up having a strong head wind too. It was a good workout.There have been lots of bike rides when nobody is around.

I got to watch this little humming bird at the feeder. It must have not had m enough to eat or was wet because it stayed for ten minutes or so.

Grandma and Grandpa Richins came by to drop of Glen's birthday present from as far away as possible. 

There has been helping with yard work. 

Lucy was able to watch her volleyball team's game from the live stream. They are only letting one parent in per team to watch and stream the games.

Lilly's other friends dropped of Kool-aid for her to dye her hair with. It was the wrong kind.

We tried it anyway. Since Lilly brought up the idea the little girls wanted to try it too. 

It only slightly tinted the ends of their hair pink. Thank goodness. 

Driving the lawn mower around for fun. 

Cousins doorbell ditching us leaving treats. They also stayed so we could chat across the lawn with them.

Amid the crumminess of having to quarantine there has been so much good and it has made me want to be a better more considerate, empathetic person.
