Quarantine week 2

Here is the scene you need to see from them Swiss family Robinson to understand Lilly’s flag from last week’s post.

We have almost made it. We are on day 14 of 14 of quarantine.  On day 15 we are cleared to go to work and school and rejoin society. Yippee!
Here are a few details of how quarantine has worked for us. Sunday September 13 Lilly had symptoms and was tested. She was ask to self isolate at home at least till results came back. That meant staying in a separate room from everyone else and using a separate bathroom. If she did come in to the common areas of the house she needed to have a mask on and try to maintain 6 feet social distance from everyone in the house.
On Tuesday we were notified of the positive test result by a health care worker and given instructions. Lilly needed to continue to self isolate for ten days from her positive test. She needed to clean and sanitiz

e her isolation room and bathroom and we needed to clean and sanitize the common areas of the house and high touch points regularly. We needed to stay six feet away from her as much as possible and if we were closer it needed to be for less than 15 minutes.
No one else in the family ended up getting tested. Beth had a low grade fever for half a day but that was the extent of symptoms. We were also told we couldn’t test till seven days after Lilly’s positive test and had to have symptoms longer than 72 hours. Having someone tested would would also change all of our return dates if they came back positive. Since no one really showed symptoms we opted to not test and just do our 14 day quarantine.  The information we got said they figure if you have the virus, it basically runs it’s course in ten days and as long as your symptoms are no longer active- no fever and nothing getting worse, you are considered not contagious. The virus is still in you and will be for awhile but you can return to society. Being exposed is different. You get to do a 14 day quarantine. This meant Lilly went back to school on Thursday the 24th while the rest of us still had days left at home.

It’s a interesting experience. Everyone home all the time means there is a lot of living you do in your house. There is a lot of washing dishes. There is a lot of making food. There is a lot of eating food. There is a lot of reminding people to stay on task. There is a lot of tidying. There is a lot of screen time with online learning. There is a lot of whining. There is a lot of laughing.  There is a lot of saying sorry. There is a lot of patience. It’s just a lot of life condensed in to not a lot of space.
We have lots of random pictures of what we have done this week while mostly at home.

Beth found old soccer socks and decided she needed to play soccer but was disappointed when she couldn’t find a ball. She looked cute in the process though.
Beth is doing online preschool as well as in person preschool. They are two separate programs. Online preschool has been a great distraction for her while she is waiting to go to in person.

I got “Darthie” my cpap machine and have been using it the past week. It takes some getting use too but I think it is helping. I named it that because I feel like Darth Vader a bit with it on.

The hammock Glen brought home from his mission that probably has never been used got pulled out and loved on.

Lilly made a stage prop for her stage Olympiad competition for Shakespeare festival in 15 minutes with limited supplies. Glen got to film for her.

Paige and Grandma Richins dropped off a care package to us. I think Paige said they were trying to keep their eyes on us. They are a really fun combination.

Ruth learned about bridges and had to build one out of things we had around. It inspired Glen and Daryl to build ones as well. First with marshmallows and toothpicks. Then because they could nails and metal.

Creative hangman, where you have to  jump on the letter you want to use.
Dressing up dogs so they are more glamorous and love able.
Welding because why not.

Reading. Some times because we are forced to do it. Sometimes we do it because we want too.

Games that we have lost the rules too so we improvise and make up our own rules.
Walking the goats. We have decided we want to breed them and think they could loose some weight to help them out.

Giving Goob a bath and then watching him do zoomies around the house.

Enjoying the new dishwasher and it being able to wash cookie sheets easily! I really like that feature.

I accidentally exploded a spaghetti squash in the microwave and scared the kids. It even made the microwave door pop open.

Mermaid pancakes because why not.

Practicing piano upside down. It was a fun thing her lesson had her do but she was not pleased about it.

Lying in the middle of the road during a little rain storm and then wondering why your back side is wet.

Some how they have wet bums? So weird.

Dying hair with kool-aid that Aunt Marian and Grandma Egbert dropped by. It worked this time.

Lucy took pictures for stage design class that were suppose to show a certain design element. The four pictures above are what she used.

We are so excited to go back to regular life. It’s going to be busy and I, at least, will probably wear my mask more but we need people in our lives. We need each other.

This is an excellent example of what people really ought to do together. GREAT dog portrait.

Thanks for the YouTube moment. Funny flag when considered in context.

California here we come

July 15-19  Early Monday morning we went to the Provo airport to head to John Wayne airport then down to San Diego to celebrate Larry and Janene's 50th wedding anniversary. We met up with everyone but Josh and his girlfriend, Amberlee in Provo. They left earlier and drove so they could visit her family as well. My dad is a bit John Wayne fan so we had to take a picture with The Duke at his airport for him.  Once we had our luggage, rental van and food in our bellies we had to get sand between our toes and salt water at least on our feet. We ate at a fun little place in San Clemente called Cafe Rae. It was really little. Our group of nine took up about half their seats. It was really good food and they had great hospitality.  Our next stop was the USS Midway in San Diego. Larry had talked about visiting this and the Saint Mary for a long time. It was one of the main reasons we went to San Diego. It was nice to make it happen. I am not really in to military stuff but it was...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Conversations with Lucy

Lucy-" Mom, Do you know what you can't do?" Mom-"No, what?" Lucy-" You can't put root beer in the microwave. You can't put it in the microwave or else it will explode." Mom- " Is that right?" Lucy- " Yeah, and do you know what else you can't do, you can't put candy in the microwave or else it will explode too. Yeah!"
