The week of Christmas

The week leading up to Christmas was filed shopping and preparing for the big day for the most part. 
One morning there was this fabulous sunrise. 

One of the days the older girls and I went to Evelyn’s. Ellie was painting pictures and ask Lucy and Lilly to paint some too. The catch was there were only two brushes. Lilly didn’t let that stop her. She used her finger to paint her Christmas tree picture and it turned out very nicely. 

The most educational thing we did was P-tests to check to see if the goats were pregnant or not. It consisted of waiting for the goats to urinate and trying to catch some in a cup. Then waiting a half an hour for it to become room temperature. Once we waited we had to use a syringe and needle to inject the urine in to the vile with the pregnancy test chemicals.  It was a rather silly but sciencey thing to do.  We concluded two are expecting and one is not. We have to wait for signs the one has gone in to heat; then she can visit her boyfriend Rocky again.  

We had a cousin sleepover on Christmas Adam. I didn’t get pictures of it. It made us tired and I don’t know that we will do one that close to Christmas again.
On Christmas Eve we had breakfast at Evelyn’s. It was a family tradition for my family to have Christmas breakfast at their house when we were growing up. We still have it in the days leading up to Christmas.
It was a nice enough day Lucy pulled out the cross net and convinced people to play with her.
 
We got to video chat with Jed. Jill and the kids do this all the time but we don’t get in on it too much and it was great to see his face and hear his voice. Marian is helping Evelyn visit with him in the picture below.  
I was finally able to finish the stockings I started making for our family, a few years ago, just in the nick of time for them to get filled with goodies and presents.  
Christmas gets its own post. 
Beth was very content in this picture from the day after.

The pregnancy testing for goats sounds like quite a process!! Definitely not for the faint of heart! Also, your Christmas stockings turned out so beautifully. Aren't sunny days in the winter wonderful for the soul? Good for Lucy for getting people out in the sun!

You are trying to have baby goats!!! That is exciting. The details are very interesting. And I especially love the contented Ruth and your beautiful stockings. Is the extra one for dogs? I have decided stockings don't have to be done. Eve and Griff are still waiting for their names on theirs.

July 15-19  Early Monday morning we went to the Provo airport to head to John Wayne airport then down to San Diego to celebrate Larry and Janene's 50th wedding anniversary. We met up with everyone but Josh and his girlfriend, Amberlee in Provo. They left earlier and drove so they could visit her family as well. My dad is a bit John Wayne fan so we had to take a picture with The Duke at his airport for him.  Once we had our luggage, rental van and food in our bellies we had to get sand between our toes and salt water at least on our feet. My cup with blessings overflows

 I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Lucy-" Mom, Do you know what you can't do?" Mom-"No, what?" Lucy-" You can't put root beer in the microwave. You can't put it in the microwave or else it will explode." Mom- " Is that right?"
