Time goes bye - week of April 24

I had to clear some space on my phone and came across this picture Marian probably sent me. It’s such a good one. I sure do miss this lady.

Monday was rough. Nothing was normal or routine about it. The kids and Glen were off of school. I had taken it easy after the funeral and I was ready to get back to my routine and what I do/did. And it’s gone. The switch has been flipped off. Grief hit hard.  Poor Glen got the brunt of it. I let it all out. Looking back it was a lot of grief and being scared of the great unknown. Though it’s not really unknown. It’s just uncomfortable and not what my routine has been.

Tuesday and the rest of the week were better. I went to Evelyn’s one day and got some things I needed from the house. It’s still weird being there with out Evelyn or Roberta, so I didn’t stay long. I started working more intently on a quilt I have on the long arm. It is all free motion quilting, run by me and not the computer. I have been working on catching up on laundry and trying to do things that need to be done but not expect too much.

Lucy asked a boy to MORP and used the gorilla suit, bananas and a poster that said something about cutting the monkey business and going bananas if he’d go to the dance with her.  She made sure whoever answered the door saw the gorilla  as it was leaving the scene.
The little girls and I waited for Lucy after church while she was in a meeting. Then I talked to a neighbor for a little bit. I knew the girls were keeping themselves busy but I didn’t really pay attention to what they were doing. I went back to the church later for  my self reliance class. One of the class members asked if I had noticed the chalkboard and I hadn’t realized all that was going on. It was the girl’s drawing. It has Beth and Ruth by flowers and then Glen Richins and Jesus in the air with a beard. I am hoping that the ward that met after ours didn’t have their fifth Sunday lesson in that room and leave the picture during all of it.
Beth and Grandma Richins are the best teasing buddies.
Another tournament in the books. Friday was much better than Saturday. They played hard and did great losing a few players to prom activities.
Ruth has been loving swinging and being outside.
Spring is in the air and on the trees.
Ruth liked how her freckles matched the ones on this egg she used to make cookies.

The freckled face and the freckled egg are priceless! And I’m happy that you have Glen to help you through the times of grieving. That’s hard work, though. Both for you, and for him. Mostly for you. I agree that to do next seems like a big task even though you’ll be doing a lot of the same things. You are a brave woman. Do you enjoy free quilting? I hope so. It sounds fun. Love you, beautiful lady!

Your kids tickle me. Lucy and the gorilla suit. Ruth and the freckled egg. And I feel for your grief and mourning. Paige is right. That IS hard work!

California here we come

July 15-19  Early Monday morning we went to the Provo airport to head to John Wayne airport then down to San Diego to celebrate Larry and Janene's 50th wedding anniversary. We met up with everyone but Josh and his girlfriend, Amberlee in Provo. They left earlier and drove so they could visit her family as well. My dad is a bit John Wayne fan so we had to take a picture with The Duke at his airport for him.  Once we had our luggage, rental van and food in our bellies we had to get sand between our toes and salt water at least on our feet. We ate at a fun little place in San Clemente called Cafe Rae. It was really little. Our group of nine took up about half their seats. It was really good food and they had great hospitality.  Our next stop was the USS Midway in San Diego. Larry had talked about visiting this and the Saint Mary for a long time. It was one of the main reasons we went to San Diego. It was nice to make it happen. I am not really in to military stuff but it was...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Conversations with Lucy

Lucy-" Mom, Do you know what you can't do?" Mom-"No, what?" Lucy-" You can't put root beer in the microwave. You can't put it in the microwave or else it will explode." Mom- " Is that right?" Lucy- " Yeah, and do you know what else you can't do, you can't put candy in the microwave or else it will explode too. Yeah!"
