Before I figure out what I am doing with this thing, I wanted to post about this WONDERFUL, MARVELOUS thing that has happened that I am way to excited about to contain!
It may see trivial but it has totally taken a load off of me and helped me see some light at the end of the tunnel for this project.
So let me start at the beginning, since it's a very good place to start! We have a lot of trees in our yard. Most of them I don't like. The trees I don't like the most are on the back of our property line, and they are in a peculiar spot. On one side of them is power lines and a now pipped ditch and on the other side is the fence. I HATE these trees and have plotted their demise in so many ways for a few years now.
The yard is at a point that we real need to figure out what we are doing with it and attack.
For Christmas Glen singed me up for a basic landscape class, because that's what I wanted. I learned a lot and had reinforced some of what I already knew- that we need a new sprinkling system, a plan, and LOTS of $$$. During it I was suppose to come up with a plot plan and figure out what we wanted to do with our yard. Then on the last class you get a 15 min. one on one consultation with a master gardener. I think it would be easy if we where starting with just dirt but we aren't. I was just over whelmed at where to start and what to do. When I had my consultation I was really hoping the person would must tell me what to do but not so. I basically vented to the lady about my yard, which I have a love/have relationship with. After just a few minutes she said, " Well it looks like you know what you don't like or want so start there." At the top of this list has been those dang trees so that has been my project again. To plan these Russian Olive and Siberian Elm trees deaths.(Imagine a completely wicked and sinister laugh/cackle right now!)
Now because they are by the power line every so often the power company sends a crew out to clear around the lines. One of these times they were doing this I tried to talking them in to taking the trees down, but they wouldn't and the trees haven't really grown in the way enough to get them out here agian.
Well two days ago Jordan School District employees started cutting the trees down. The trees were over the fence on to their property and I guess it is a liability with kids walking to school and cars parking a long there. I think they may have had a law suit against them because a limb fell on a car. So the district has these guys cut trees back to the fence line, so they are not a problem any more.
The first day they did this I just sort of watch and wondered what they were doing and why.Then they came back a second day so I talked to them and told them my great disdain for the trees. I told them to take as much as they wanted because I wanted the trees gone any ways. They have been willingly doing that these past few days and pretty much taken out three of the trees. I am SO happy. I love it and the fence line looks so much better! I feel like I should make them cookies or something to say thank you! So thank you Jordan School District for taking out my trees.
Getting rid of the rest of the trees should be much easier now!
