Making time

I seem to not be making time to blog good posts. They are time consuming though. I am slightly disenchanted with computers and technology right now though. I seem to feel that way often.  I wrote a letter to someone last night and it felt so nice. I really like that feeling more than staring at a screen and plunking away at a key board. I am going to do it more often. As good as all this fast, instant stuff is there is just something about pen and paper, or a face to face conversation, or an actual book, or phone call from someone. Call me old fashioned.

As far as the rest of our crazy crew. They are good. Here is a quick update on them.

Glen is busy being a super dad and husband. He loves his jobs and maybe teaching another subject next year instead of just the one all day long. He is enjoying being in with the oldest boys in his church calling. He had forgotten what a few years can do in the maturity and responsibility areas of life, not that twelve and thirteen year olds aren't wonderful. He found out he's not quite up on his finish carpenter skills. He did a great job hanging the doors and putting up some trim in the basement though.

Lilly is happy she survived the wind storms we recently had. She really wants to get baptised in couple months and wasn't sure she would make it.  I don't think she'll ever want to live in the midwest because she has a great phobia of tornados. Aside from that she is reading up a storm and doing much better in math. She got an medal for being able to teach a chess move. I am not good at chess though and have forgotten what it was called. She could beat me, I am sure. She likes playing on Dad's ipad and Ant Hill is her currant game of choice. She is developing her own sense of style, though sometimes it's a tad crazy. It really fits her personality.

Lucy is a snuggle bug and tease. She is almost reading small words and loves preschool. The last few times she has gone to preschool she has wanted to ride her bike. So we take it to Evelyn and Roberta's and she rides it while I jog next to her to school and back. It has been a lot of fun. The next step is to get her on two wheels and no training wheels. She loves playing with her cousins. She can be a total girly girl when she wants or a complete tom boy. It's fun to see her adapt.

Daryl is our crazy boy. Like I have shown he is on the go and in to places all the time. He has this super high pitched yell. i may be deaf by time he grows out of it. He loves being outside doing what ever. Like most kids he is a magnet to water and is commonly found playing in the chickens. His vocabulary is growing all the time and our ability to understand him is getting better too! Some of his favorites are "Hi" and "Bye". Bye is accompanied by an enthusiastic hand wave and usually a lean to ward the person he is saying bye too so he can give them a nice open mouthed kiss. As wild and crazy as he is he is a good cuddlier, and a sweet boy. One of my favorite things he does is at night when I rock him to help calm him down for bed, he always has to look at this picture book we have of a few pictures from when I was in high school but mostly the engagement photos Glen and I had taken. I think it is so cute.

I love these update posts. The overview is nice for those of us that don't get to see you all as much as we would like to!

I'm so glad that Lilly made it through this last wind storm too. What a cutie!

Beautiful slice of life here. A cheerful baby boy makes the world a happy place. I still snuggle with mine (although he's about my height now.) Thanks for describing the loves of your life so vividly.

OK, I'm trying once more. Your blog doesn't usually like my comments. I'm crossing my fingers this time. Makes it hard to type.

Loved the post. Love your cute family. Love you! Thanks for this slice of your life.

GASP! It worked so easy. Was it the crossed fingers or have you changed something?

California here we come

July 15-19  Early Monday morning we went to the Provo airport to head to John Wayne airport then down to San Diego to celebrate Larry and Janene's 50th wedding anniversary. We met up with everyone but Josh and his girlfriend, Amberlee in Provo. They left earlier and drove so they could visit her family as well. My dad is a bit John Wayne fan so we had to take a picture with The Duke at his airport for him.  Once we had our luggage, rental van and food in our bellies we had to get sand between our toes and salt water at least on our feet. We ate at a fun little place in San Clemente called Cafe Rae. It was really little. Our group of nine took up about half their seats. It was really good food and they had great hospitality.  Our next stop was the USS Midway in San Diego. Larry had talked about visiting this and the Saint Mary for a long time. It was one of the main reasons we went to San Diego. It was nice to make it happen. I am not really in to military stuff but it was...

My cup with blessings overflows

I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging. Before I go to bed, even though I should be in bed here are blessings from this week. I don’t know it I will remember them all there were so many.  Being home to attend church with our ward.  Talks from two sister in our ward, Louisa Jones who is a brand new young woman and Holly Draney who is the Primary President, on Sister Kristin Yee’s conference talk, that complimented each other well.  They reminded me that God is in the details and even when mistakes are made he can use it to help us learn and bless us. Louisa talked about how she was mad when her parents decided they should move a few years ago but Heavely Father has made it work out. Holly brought up the definitions of the words possibility and joy. She also talked about repairing quilts that had things happen to them. Also a talk from Matt Reeves about the power of the priesthood and how it has blessed his life and has preserved his life.  A great less...

Head to the hills- July 7-14

Good things from this week were- Getting dirt to fill the planter box Daryl made for Grandpa Richins. It’s ready for him to use now!  Getting ready for girls camp. Watching Lucy play volleyball in a tournament at UVU with high school team girls. It’s crazy that is her last one as a high school player.  Eating dinner on the roof and watching the sunset. Girls camp, even the one bad part.  Showering after girls camp Sunday dinner at Larry and Janene's and playing with the whip These cool plants were at the nursery we got soil from. I think I might want some in my yard.  Lucy played in a volleyball tournament at UVU with the high school team.  Lucy thought eating on the roof would be a good idea one night so we could watch the sunset better. She was right. Though Ruth but mostly Beth got pretty comfortable exploring up there. My mom safety barometer went quite high till they got down.  The Oquirrh Mountain temple fit right between the trees for a perfect view....
